Depends on how high the AITs really are. But the majority of your retard A/F issue stems from you DP

But the size of the downpipe has nothing to do with whether or not I am using a heatshield ;).

I'm going to stop arguing now though, because I know I'm just going to get pwned

Didn't mean to start anything, but it's become an interesting topic

So....has anyone actually measured underhood temps with and without shield in place?

It would be interesting, cause going by looks, those funky OE shields look like a waste of $100

AITs are a direct reflection of underhood temps. More relevant may be turbo inlet temps but I do not monitors those on the 850.

I'm still learning Turbo systems, and in my research, I've found that some of the newer cars have IAT monitors, to help control AF mixture, and are placed near if not in the intake plenum.

I think we've reached the conclusion:

If they don't make the turbo (much) louder and they don't weigh too much and you have one sitting around...put it back on.

If not, buy one cheap....

P.S. Look near the beginning of the thread. (http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=100114&view=findpost&p=1340276)

how many folks are NOT running a heat shield on their exhaust manifold / turbo?

For how long?

Any heat related issues?

have had mine off for about 3 months. no good reason really..I like looking at my DP from time to time.

the plactic is getting deformed though. I'll be putting mine back on asap.
