This is the second time that this has happened. The first time that I could not start the car was when I returned from a 3 day camping trip. After several attempts, I lifted the hood unhooked the battery cables. Placed it back on and it started. Today, it failed me after several attempts. I don't know what the issue is. I spoke with my friend and said that it could be 2 things: a fuel system or ignition problem. The car cranks, but doesn't start, hence the fuel issue. I gave it some gas during the start up and still a no go. Prior to not starting at all, I have 3 other previous power issues. when I come to an idle, it will dip below 800 rpms and all power is lost. I had to restart the car. This has happened twice.

What possible can be worng with this. What is the cost estimate on this repair? Any assistance it greatly appreciated!

You can check for fuel pressure at the little valve on the end of the fuel rail. I think it could be crankshaft position sensor as well for car not starting, but not sure how to diagnose. The car idling bad and stalling could be a vacuum leak, but it could probably be several other things as well.

How many miles on the car? Do you hear the pump run when you turn the key to position II before you actually try to start it?

Sounds like a fuel pump or fuel pump relay. There have been numerous posts to pull the relay and jumper a couple pins to verify if the relay is bad. Pin 15 and 87 come to mind but could be wrong. If it starts, the relay is your problem. Otherwise fuel pump could certainly be an issue. This is a common issue on these cars with higher mileage.

its got 92k on it. I just had it towed to a volvo repair shop, SVS. They said it sounds like a fuel system issue. This is way to comprehensive for me, so I will leave it to the pros.

Thanks again for the reply.
