I was born in Panama and I'm white! (on an army base) I always get asked why I was outside the country when I try to pass through customs at the airport. It always goes like, "So you were born in Panama... what were you doing outside the country?" "Vacation" "Why were you born in Panama? Was one of your parents in the military?" White hispanics are hispanics of European origin (Germans living in Argentina speak Spanish, therefore they are White Hispanics), not ones who "think" they are white. Keep in mind "spanish" is a language that Americans try to generalize into a subculture. In spanish-speaking countries, the demographic is either of European decent (small population of the country), African decent (usually only coastal Latin American countries had African breeds), Indigenous decent (depending on what country the demographics are being drawn from--Ex: Chile) or a hybrid of all 3 (generally the majority of the population.

I may not agree with some of the shit you say/opinions you have, but that doesn't mean you can't have them. At the end of the day, when an argument comes up, even if it's your view versus what the majority thinks and is "right", that majority end up looking like the true fools for being closed-minded enough to get on YOUR case for being closed-minded towards what's "right".

Again, I'm not saying I agree with Dave half the time (they ARE white, if that's how they view themselves when coming from an interracial relationship; that's their right), but unless something drastically changes, you can still think what ya do buddy.

ON-TOPIC,

I always viewed it as a way to give your identity outside of your color. My ex was 1st generation Guatemalan, and when we talked about the future/kids/etc. that topic had come up-- would we tell our children they're white, hispanic, what. I always was a proponent of "say what you think, put what you feel", but it's nice knowing that the option is given to identify yourself as more than just what shade you are.

Its scary how many Nazis fled to Argentina after the war. Anways when I was in eastern Spain this summer, the people looked as white as any other non-hispanic Europeans and Americans.
