khax Posted August 18, 2008 Report Share Posted August 18, 2008 ok so, i know this is a pretty debated topic on VS so sorry if you don't agree with the making of this thread. the discussion is medical marijuana so we are not referencing anything that is illegal. but i guess feel free to delete it if you really want to.there are currently 13 states which have some sort of law regulating medical marijuana. i live in one, then there's california, washington, new mexico, hawaii, alaska and that's all i know off the top of my head. it's prescribed for a number of things like chronic pain, depression, extreme anxiety, it's sometimes used to promote appetite etc. i know a kid who goes to my school, his spine is connected to his pelvis wrong and he has a medical marijuana card so that he can cope with the pain of this condition. many people would argue that this is bad because marijuana is bad. personally, i think that this is a much safer medicine than many other medications the united states regulates and uses, such as opiates which are addicting. there are many reasons i feel this way about medical marijuana but i will not get into that because i assume someone will probably delete this thread anyway. but i would like to hear my fellow VS'ers opinions on the matter. Medicinal weed is 100% pointless. Not even going to debate the medical properties with you because I do not have to. Its called marinol. All the effects none of the downsides. khax Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Share Posted August 18, 2008 it's somewhat mentally addicting but your body will not physically crave it if you stop. obviously if you like it though you will probably want to do it again, same goes for chocolate cake or something though, you eat it, you like it so you want to eat more. Marinol has been around for years, and has the same efficacy for many of THC's uses (appetite, glaucoma, etc.) Neuropathic pain is basically the only use of THC as pain managment treatment, but its not very effective. If you up the dose to get the same effects as most opiates of much lower potency, you get really nasty and unwanted side effects.Its a social arguement, not really a medical one.
