In lieu of the recent discussion about a write up forum, I decided to make this. I am hoping it will be easier to read and follow than my showroom thread, and hopefully it can help more people. I am also hoping that those that have used my showroom thread, or other people's threads will contribute to this and post the ways that they did things, if differently. Also, since my current mounting solution is ghetto and not up to SOME people's (:D) standards, I would appreciate if those who have mounted your intercoolers properly (like Edwin *psychobeano*) would post pictures/instructions of that too.

Pretty inpiring for $188!

Say, won't you want to thermally insulate all that metal piping going over a hot engine?

yes they are. They flow MUCH better and cool more effeciently with less surface area due to better design. Bar/Plate is much much better than the Fin design the stock cooler has.

I've got this one

That looks great! ....is your install posted somewhere?

I don't know if I mentioned in that thread that the black coupler I used temporarily to hold the piping to the throttle body was a poor choice as it simply can't hold boost. A 2.5 to 2.25" silicone adaptor is needed if you use 2.25" IC piping... for the 98's at least. Someone else probably knows the throttle body diameter for other models if it's different.

Many thanks!

A few questions...

Do you still feel that it was a significant improvement, and did you get any dyno #'s or track times since last Aug?

Did you get your pipes welded or are you still using the multiple connectors?

Did you figure out a way to reinstall the fogs or did you just leave 'em off?

justin, make sure you pm me when your doing the install. i'd gladly make the short trip to pa to see this get done!

btw: how much piping do you plan on using? I was thinking maybe of just mounting the intercooler and just use the provided piping to extend it to as much of the stock plumbing as possible.

Adam, I must apologize - I responded to Auburn's post without commenting on your awesome writeup!

It's very precise & the detailed listing of what was required makes it very easy to evaluate the whole process - thank you for taking the time to put together!

I didnt plan on it.

Adam,

Roughly, how long did the install take?

Well as you know, everything takes longer for me

It took 6-7 hours for this whole job (the first time). Keep in mind I was figuring out all of the routing of the piping and mounting of the intercooler with little guidance. I will give all of the credit to Mark (BlackT5) and also AuburnT5. Without their pictures and advice, I never would have done this.

Now that I have all of the directions and pictures up, I doubt this should take more than a couple hours. Maybe 2-4.

Thanks :D.

Unfortunately, I do not think it will be pinned or added to Bay13 :(.
