V Tuning 850
Ok who would win a 99 S70 awd auto, or a 2000 V6 Cougar manual? Stock he is running about the same as my old 850 N/A about 165-170HP, but he has an intake and an exhaust, and should be running I am going to say 180HP now. And the awd S70 99 is 190 Hp rated stock. fromtheshadows
it all comes down to whether or not he misses a shift. if not, well, sorry to say he might take you. chip your car and youll fare better, but youve got about 800 pounds of a disadvantage, so youll probably lose if he knows how to drive a fwd well. just go race him and report back
550
just take him. I think you can take him, miss shift or not. My friend drives a Grandam GT rated around the exact same as the cougar(my friend has the auto though) even then though, I still pulled on him especially when I hit second gear oh man, no chance. I am guessing you would eventually win in the long run. I attribute that to the turbo too though. So just try and see, but I think you will win.Or be VERY close
V Tuning 850
He has a short throw shifter too, if that counts for anything. And I have only seen him miss a shift once. But I will try and race him, after next weekend.
550
aah crap. Well I missed the part where he has intake and exhaust. Um, well still try anyway. heh
V Tuning 850
Do you think after my intake/exhaust and downpipe/chip upgrades, I would be able to take him better?
550
hell yeah hehe, 240 hp to 180hp haha, yeah you could say bye to him real quick. haha I think even now you shoudl be able to beat him or come very damned close.
V Tuning 850
Well this just in. My friend just got a new car part for his Cougar. It is an SVT upper intake manifold I think, but if you know a 2000 Cougar on the top it is silerish, well this one is black and from the SVT, and he also got the SVT throttle body as well. So he might be up on me now with this race deal.I wish I had my money to buy my upgrades, damnit.
850 GLT
My cousin has a cougar with intake/exhaust. It's not fast. I beat him when I was stock and now it's not even close. I'd say worst case scenario you tie or he barely beats you.
V Tuning 850
Well my friends is a 2000 6 speed manual Cougar w/ full intake, 2.5" exhaust (Flowmaster), And now it has a full SVT intake manifold + throttle body, and a short throw shifter. He knows how to shift very well, and can squeal tires in third. I just have this feeling I am going to be beat again. I think when I get my 3" downpipe, 3" exhaust, EST intake, and Upsolute chip I will be able to take him hands down, because I will be pushing like possibly 230-240 HP, and about the same torque right?Even though mine is automatic is there any things I should do to be able to start off better, and end better then he? V Tuning 850
Friend just installed his SVT stuff on his Cougar. It is faster then before now. However I asked him if he wanted to race, and he was like not until I get my SVT parts. I asked why he said because I am turbocharged. So I think he might be a little bit intimidated however his Cougar now with the SVT stuff on it sound incredible, not that it didn't before but it sounds crazy right now. He said it was a lot faster too. I am assuming he is pushing like 190-200 Hp, don't know about torque.
