Fudge_Brownie
No real point to this tread, just curious to see what you all thought. If running our cars in a 1/4, which would do you think is quicker? Auto or the 5spd?For the record, I gave a null vote.

EricF
He didn't believe me that its common knowledge give the same WHP the auto is quicker.Which is why I'm not going either way, because there is so much more parasitic loss in our auto transmissions than the manuals I think with lower-powered cars and few-speed econo autoboxes, there are exceptions. When you have to dip out of the powerband and only have 100 whp to get back into it with wide gears, it slows the car down. Our cars are above that cut though, and the 4-speed ratios aren't all that terrible anyway.

Che'_Moderator
Autos probably still faster in the 1/4. Its not dumping the boost every shift. Higher up that makes up a decent amount of ground. More than the 2% more HP the standard will make locked in a gear.
