Pulling Engine Again...couple Problems This Time

Just get the metal detached from the plastic housing and the two halves will flop whatever way they want to disconnect. The real pain is getting them out of the plastic.

Got it... What all needs to come apart from the drivers side to pull the harness?

I see a plug near the top of the strut tower that looks like it may pass through the firewall....is that the only one to disconnect or are the other spots? Also, how do you disengage that plug? Looks to be a slot in the upper part with a metal clip holding the pieces together. Do i just pull that clip out w/ pliars? It didn't move too much the first time i tried and i was worried about bending/breaking it.

Idono what plug you are talking about but there is nothing that I can remember that needs to be disconnected on drivers side that leads to the harness. There is a ground wire but thats all I can think of...

I just got it out...what a PITA... maybe i was doing something wrong, but it seemed like a LOT more work doing it w/ the harness still attached to the engine. Do you usually pull the hard plastic conduit and all?

I had all kinds of problems snaking that through the ac compressor lines.

Anything you do for the first time is going to be more work.

Taking the harness our while the AC is in there is kinda a PITA. I take that with the engine now since I got tired of snaking.

What was the other connection you had a hard time with?

Yea, i guess the first time is the hardest... I was trying to snake it though while the black plastic cover was still attached to the 1/2 of the wiring harness bass...maybe that causes unnecessary headaches. It sure did manage to run into the radiator a few times causing some bending and smashing of the fins :(

I could see this would be a lot easier if the AC came out w/ the engine, but i don't have a way to do that so in the future i'll prolly disconnect all the wires from the engine instead. I know i'll definitely be putting the harness back in place before i drop the block back in. Just seemed soooo much easier the first time i tried it by leaving the harness in the car.

I still don't know exactly what that other conenctor was on the driver's side...but i didn't need to remove it. I'm guessing it's something for the ABS or something...

haha, sorry, I forgot to tell you to put a piece of plywood in front of the rad since it really drags across that area.

Do you mean the connector that goes to the ABS control unit?

I guess each their own on this one....It's so much faster for me to swap the harness outside of the car. But thats because I could take the ECU box apart with my eyes closed.
