Phelps Is A Dope, And Smokes It Too...

both weed and alcohol cause sever long term health problems. both are dangerous to you and people around you. ie second hand smoke, or drunk driving. I'm tired of seeing stoner rhetoric about weed isnt as bad or whatever the case.

PS. I will agree in some cases alcohol can be more dangerous.

Show me a case of lung cancer from MJ and I'll believe that, but otherwise pot-smoking does not cause long term health problems. I know plenty of adults who smoke/have been smoking for a while and there are no long-term problems to show for it.

It's not bad for you, and that's a fact. I can throw out numbers all day but people who don't want to listen aren't going to and that's that. If you don't like it don't comment. Who cares that Phelps hit a bong? Big fucking whoop, he was at a college party, and he's having some fun. He didn't drive so that argument is out the window, no one died after he inhaled, and he wasn't arrested. If the rumor went around without the picture no one would be saying shit. I hit bongs on a weekly basis, I still manage work, class, and a good GPA, and SO DOES EVERY OTHER POT SMOKER I KNOW. The alcoholics are the ones who can't function because they're craving a bottle of Jack every other hour.

As far as addiction goes, it's a mind thing. Yea, some things are chemically addictive, but THC/Marijuana/Pot is not.

ugh really dood, pole has more tar then cigarets, thc doesnt kill you yes, but smoking period is not good for you, and also there have been studies that show the fact that smoking pole causes brain damage over a period of time. it is a FACT that if you take an adult who has smoked pole habitually for a decade and compare them to a non smoker, the NON SMOKER will be in better health AND upon a mri the non smoker will have more activity in the brain. Obveously its not going to take a math genius and turn him into a retard. My point is IT IS BAD for you. Though I will agree there are alot worse things out there, we dont need the whole ""pole didnt kill anyone"" speech also you cannot say that pole is or is not addictive, there is no proof it is or isnt.

The proof is in the people who smoke it, if you have an addictive personality you'll be addicted. But then you're just an idiot.

Yes, there is tar in Marijuana, but here are a few facts for you:

1) Most marijuana smokers smoke the bud, not the leaf, of the plant. The bud contains only 33% as much tar as tobacco.

2) Marijuana smokers do not smoke anywhere near as much as tobacco smokers, due to the psychoactive effects of cannabis. (I'm housed after a fat bowl, so I usually am fine for the rest of the day/night. Cigarette smokers aren't 'good' after 1 cigarette, therein lies the problem; chances are also, that i'm not going anywhere except my couch to watch a movie or sleep after that, and its always at the end of the day or after I've finished what I need to do for the day...now that's not to say that other people do it and go function normally....but as far as I'm concerned, if they're functioning then what's the issue?)

3) Not one case of lung cancer has ever been successfully linked to marijuana use.

4) Cannabis, unlike tobacco, does not cause any narrowing of the small air passageways in the lungs

Tar is also largely unattributed to cancer, it's the radioactive shit in the cigarettes that are dangerous.

Even with all that said, people will retain their viewpoints on it, because its illegal and it has been for a while. If the roles were switched so would the mindsets.

The study (note the singular version of your "studies", this is because there has only been one that showed this) that you are referring to about weed causing brain damage was performed in the 1970s during the reefer madness movement. For a long time they were very secretive about exactly how this "study" was performed. However they recently released the details about it, and let me share them to you.

-There was only 4 monkeys in the study, and no control

-They put a mask on the monkey and pumped pure smoke into their lungs for long periods of time, without letting them breath

-The brain damage they found was the same type you see in cases of oxygen deprivation (huh thats weird, oh wait, see above)

-There has been at least 6 other studies done since that one where they bothered to actually use science instead of suffocation that prove this study false

-All 6 studies combined have not gotten the same amount of press time as this one study got and still continues to get

How long is it going to take you potheads to figure out your beating a dead horse?

Last time I checked discussion like this wasn't aloud on VS.

And I guess most of you don't realize that all of your arguments no matter how logical and awesome you might think they are fall on deaf ears.

Pretty sure everyone here has made up their mind. So just the fuck up and think of the dead horses you're abusing. I thought hippies loved animals?
