dmelviØØ7
Hey do you guys have problems with your axles a lot? 3 out of the last 4 I have installed have been bad out of the box. The outer joints are always really stiff and cause a vibration either at highway speeds or on heavy acceleration. The last one was covered under warranty without any issues, but I am just curious if you get this a lot or if I am extremely unlucky.
Chilled man
? who ever makes them I just got one from Napa since my boot was torn on my Volvo Manual Axle and the blue glue in the boot flew out with in the 2nd day not saying it was a FCP one but I think its a Rebuilt Axle guys that kind of suck - only reason I bought the NAPA one was Raxles doesnt have a 99s yet :(

If I had to pinpoint the problem I would say its more of a fitment issue from the company trying to figure out what Volvo did from 93-00 with the variety of axles they used. Theres either FWD , FWD M and AWD 93-98 should all be the same axles ends . 99-00 use the 14mm bolt instead of the 36mm nut on the earlier ones. Nice thing is you can swap over to the 99-00 axles if you swap your hubs. Only issue I have seen is axle not fitting in the tranny for some reason - the tranny side the spline being to big. that and that crappy napa axle I have the grease flying out the second day I have it

When I pulled them out of the box I noticed that the out joint was very stiff. At highway speeds there was a terrible vibration. I figured that since the out joint was so stiff it was binding up and causing a vibration. I work at a Volvo dealership here in Seattle so I scrounged up a pair of axles with bad boots rebuilt them and tossed them in, vibration gone.My second round with your axles was about a month ago, I have a 2001 XC70 that I was getting ready to sell. I found the right side axle had a bad inner joint so I order a replacement from you. When I pull it out of the box I noticed that the end joint was stiff just like the previous 2. I don't have much of a choice so I throw it in. Same vibration at highway speeds, but also a bad vibration on heavy acceleration. I was able to get a replacement axle from you without any hassel and that one turned out to be okay.I'm not sitting here writing this to dog your products, Volvo axles are extremely overpriced so I will continue to use your axles and hope that I have a bit more luck. I just hope that this information will be slightly useful in finding a decent axle rebuilder. And I'm sure that if I had been within the return guidelines for the first 2 axles you would have had no problem swapping them out.

Then they will differ based on 4 speed auto, 5 speed auto, or Manual. Then, last six of the Vin is needed, THEN factory code is needed (product plate on the car, 1st line- 5th position)If they aren't fitting in the tranny its most likely the incorrect axle

Trust me, we don't want to go through this hassle either. Axles are heavy to ship which costs money. Plus, when we have to reship them out to replace a defective one and send a prepaid return label to get the defective axle back- we actual book a loss on the transaction along with a pissed off customer.
