javadoc
Very wierd stuff today. I pulled my car into the garage this morning to put the summer wheels/tires on, prior to today's GTG. Swapped out the tires, and went to drive the car... won't start. It just cranks, sputters (barely) and you can see a bit of smoke coming out the tailpipes. I checked the fuses for all of the fuel/ignition related bits and they are fine. I even went and replaced them all, just in case. Still, nothing. Nothing appears loose, and if I push the schrader valve on the end of the fuel rail, I get some fuel out. So, I seem to have some fuel pressure (not sure if enough)... appears to be spark, if the car's sputtering. There's no CEL, but I'll hook the car up and check codes, just in case.Any ideas? 9883
Can the fuel pump be on its way out.
javadoc
Can the fuel pump be on its way out.I kind of doubt it but could be. It was replaced 15k miles/ 14mths ago. I'm running 91 octane currently... not any E85. At any rate, I get to crash the Euro GTG in my '64 Chevy. Hahahahaha
javadoc
I have swapped coilpacks... no start. Then I pulled codes with my softloader, and here's what I got...ECM-261A: long term fuel trimECM-260A: fuel pressure faultGeneric code that my cheapo code reader gives is P1172... but I'd rely more on the Volvo codes above. My indy-mechanic initially says this could point to the MAP sensor, which I think is weird. An interweb search shows an unrelated Volvo bulletin (Reference Bulletin SMB 23-181, TNN 23-181) for '03 and '04 models. This service bulletin says that a car could in some cases stall out given a faulty fuel pressure sensor... doesn't mention MAP sensor.Anyone have any input? Boost Laggin
Clogged Fuel filter, Fuel pump fail?Is there gas in it?
9883
Start with the cheapest part of the fuel system like the filter and go from there.
Boost Laggin
And if you have any enemies, check the gas tank for anything out of the ordinary.

javadoc
Clogged Fuel filter, Fuel pump fail?Is there gas in it? Haha, yes there's about 1/2 tank of fuel. I did have a thought yesterday... it can't be out of gas, right?Engine grounds... easy enough to check.
dmelviØØ7
Unplug your MAF and try and start it. If it starts you need MAF.
javadoc
Unplug your MAF and try and start it. If it starts you need MAF.What's really wierd is, I checked for any leaks/loose hoses... found none. Then when my oldest got home, I had her crank the car while I watched under the hood, in case I could see or hear anything. When she turned the key, the car started right up, and has been running perfectly ever since. I have to say, running better than it has in a while. Could it have been something in the injectors? javadoc
I hear ya Danny. Well, I've always been meaning to keep a spare MAF on hand anyway.
1999_V70
You say you pulled it into the garage. Was it sitting the driveway before and you just started it up, moved it and shut it down? Could have flooded the engine, I've done this to my V70 and 850 before it. Say I had to move the car out from in front of the garage because someone has to get out, I would start it, move it, and shut it off. Next time I go to drive = no start. Now I just take it around the block.
