sconeman
I've had the car back from the shop for about two weeks since the last service which included among many other things.. a second, rear (drivers side) cam seal. Ever since they replaced it it's been leaking worse than I've ever seen. A couple of ounces on the driveway every time after we park it.It's going back on Thurs for an inspection but the shop owner says it's probably something more serious than a seal (like an damaged cam shaft) ?? really? It seems like shoddy work is more likely. Opinions?

MadeInJapan
they put a third cam seal in and couldn't find anything else wrong.I always put a bit of RTV around my cam seals when I install them for good measure...seems to help.
Matts 850 GLT
I bet they're putting them in backwards. I was doing the same until the parts guy asked me which way round I was putting it in, that also was the third one.Matt

wheelsup
just put it in yourself... easy cheezy!I put an OEM Volvo seal in and it still weeps *just a bit*. Just enough to put a drop on the bottom of the cover. It doesn't seem to drop down below but still has me concerned, what sort of sealant can I put around it to hold it better? What sort of RTV sealant? At Autozone they make quite a few different compounds and colors.
--Aaron--
I didn't use any type of sealant on either of my rear cam seals and they don't drip at all.....it's a really easy process.
