viperman135
I know there are some computer smart people out there. I have a 4 year old Dell 6000 and works good enough for me. The problem is the power cord plugs in but does not make good contact and keeps going in and out as far as charging. Has anyone ever replaced a power jack on a motherboard and know how and where to get one? Thanks for any help.
Fudge_Brownie
http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?acti...tem&id=3142I just ordered some replacement laptop hinges from them a few weeks ago and was satisfied with them. Just make sure you read the list below the picture to see that your laptop fits that one. I looked it up under Inspiron 6000. Never replaced one myself but I see that it says "soldering required". Find someone who can work a solder gun and you're set.
javadoc
I've had to replace the power-supply (where the cord connects to the mobo) on three of my older Toshibas. It's not that hard, but how adept are you at soldering?
Che'_Moderator
Been a while since I worked on Dells but I think Dells that vintage had the battery issue. Its not the loose jack, though thats not helping, its actually the contacts coming from the battery. Search your model and "won't charge" and see if its on the of the models effected. If it is then you have to pull the entire lap top apart ~3 hours. If thats the case though I have a tech manual that shows where to drill the interior case to gain access in about 15 minutes. viperman135
Thanks for the help guys I kept searching and I think I found what I need. Incase anyone wants to know I will post some links.http://www.support.dell.com/support/edocs/...en/sm/index.htm Step by step on how to take the laptop apart. Does not look that hard.http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007...k-repair-guide/ And here is how you repair it. I hope this is my problem. Looks like it might be a little tricky but I'm good with solder.I found the part off ebay for $5. I will post back when I'm done. Either it will work or not work or I will blow up my laptop.
