go on youtube and find one that you like the sound of. i dont know too much about the p2 cars but at least on a '98 youll have to get a block off plate for the cbv.

no, i didn`t read the sticky about them. what does it say? i don`t have big plans for the car. just eibach lowering springs with bilstein. and eventualy chiptuning. so no big plans. for the moment. i do not know what i`m gonna do in the next months. i`ve just bought the car. i need to get used to it.

Heya, Congrats on buying a nice car and welcome.

Are u going to blockoff the CBV(Compressor Bypass Valve) which is pretty much the stock bov sorta lol (Awaiting discussion) or you can keep it and still run a BOV.

Is your car auto or manual cos it would def sound better on a manual and i don't think you really need it unless your running a tune with full exhaust with higher boost and even then you don't really need it.

If you do get one go with a good name one and not a cheap ebay special cos u want something tht is going to work and not cause more trouble than its worth if it stops working all of a sudden and your boost has nowhere else to go. BANG!!!!!

Go with a TIAL or a proper HKS one etc...

There is a good writeup for a s60r which Chuck did. Its a little different but make sure you mount the BOV close to the intake manifold as u can. Its a little harder on the s60 t5 and the closest would probably be after the sensors just before the electroninic throttle module(ETM). Also, much easier but colser to the intercooler you can put it before these sensors.

Just a matter of measuring the pipe, making up or buying a pipe with a flange etc or whatever you need to connect the particular type of BOV you have bought, cutting up the oem plastic pipe and fitting your BOV/piping and fitting the hoses to the correct spots and sweetness.

If you are going to run the old CBV also then i definately suggest buying a new cbv kit which includes the diaphragm and spring. My diapragm was ok but spring was fucked and the boost is so much better now. Also probably a good idea to change your vacuum lines to silicone. You can get a good deal through stylin motors here on the forum.

Cheers Oli.

thanks. i wanted to change my car but i didn`t tought that i could get a t5. thanks to financial crisis the prices went low and here it is. and i am a proud owner of a volvo. :) so...back to bovs...what is the diference between Synapse and Tial? is there a connection between them? i don`t know moch about bovs and that`s why i ask. i saw the Synapse catalogue and there are some bovs named tial....

@kolbas : i documentes and i think i`ll go with synapse. and if i can`t purchase one i will go with hks.

@ loudvolvo: I want to mount a catback but I want it to be with 2 outputs. one on the right and one on the left side and for that i need to change the rear bumper. the one i have now is the stock one, with the space for exhaut only on the right side. to do all this i need some money and some time and i don`t have any of them. i don`t want a noisy catback. I need a catback to be loud after 3000 rpm. or should i go with a cut out exhaust? i donno.

i have to document more about exhaust systems...

Stickies aren't hard to find, but since you can't find it, here ya go. FYI, throwing a BOV on your stock car is about as rice as it gets, even more so if you're rockin an automatic. You only need a BOV if you upgrade your turbo and the CBV can't handle the pressure, but even them, you can just put a shim on it (but you have to go pretty high to bypass the usable range on the stock one).

But considering you just bought the car and your first question is about installing a BOV, I'm pretty sure you just want the PFFFSSSHH sound, in which case, wrong forum.

GL bud, but i'd honestly get a boost gauge installed first to see what boost your putting out, when i originally got my car it felt fast and was only doing like 7-8psi and after doing the CBV it's holding at 12psi without the tune but spikes up a little higher and you can hear the blowoff anyway. When i got the tune in its holding 16psi and the blowoff sound of the cbv is much louder. If u have no time and money i'd suggest not doing the bov atm and get boost gauge for sure because you need to make sure there are no problems there b4 u put the bov on cos then theres more stuff to diagnose. Doing a bov will cost ya a couple of hundred and it doesn't make any performance increase. A boost gauge will cost ya less and takes less time. So glad i read the stage zero info on VS cos it's saved me alot of frustration and only I/C hoses and PCV to go.

@ tsuehpsyde: somehow i knew that bov aren`t increasing performance and perhaps you`re right. i know nothing about bovs and bov types. but still, i`m pretty sure that it`s the right forum. this will be the only one non performance tune up that i will do. if i`ll do it. i`ve just bought the car and i know nothing about this engine or the car to make some performance modifications. and it`s quite fast for me in this moment. i`m not

@ kolbas: :) i`ve allready ordered one. i`m waiting for it. i`m pretty curious to find out how my turbo works.

BTW...have any ideea if my 2002 T5 engine is manufacured by volvo? or by another company?

thanks

put the money towards some performance driving classes B)

And it's a volvo engine you have in there. 5 cylinder whiteblock.
