this is a situation where i agree with drug testing. a lot of the harder drugs stay in your system for a really short period of time though. you're not gonna get out of a hole if you're addicted to anything, be it heroin or alcohol or anything else. someone's going to be paying for these millions of drug tests though.. they aren't cheap.

The people who deal on the street are just a small part of a very big picture.

And? Stop building upon such a trivial aspect of the big picture. People receiving welfare should be drug tested. Drugs are illegal, and to receive government aid, we should do what we can to make sure those people receiving money from taxpayers are utilizing it in a legal way. I could not care less if they spend it on strippers or booze. They are already on welfare, I'm not expecting much, just keep the money in the system.

What is this system you keep talking about?

So, when drug dealers spend their money on goods and services would you consider that part of the GDP?

You're missing the point. Drug dealers are not on welfare. We are talking about drug testing for individuals receiving welfare anyways. Start a new thread if you would like to discuss the infinite ways in which drug dealers may spend their money. I am not concerning myself with how they spend their money, as long as they do so legally. Drug testing will provide the incentive to remain clean and divert money that goes to drugs towards other things, preferably legal. I am not concerned with the way the money is spent regarding survival.

So to make it clear, you don't care if welfare resources are wasted as long as they are not used for illegal drugs.
