EricF
idk if that gives you an idea for who you'll be associated with if you get one hahaI know image is important around here, but if it works it works However, with that said, these turbos by and large do not work for too long. The machining and tolerances are very poor, and the parts are cleaned very poorly. For instance, we sell a $60k Leica microscope/camera/software package to OEM manufacturers for the sole purpose of counting and sizing particles found in a filter that filters the solvent that they wash their parts off with after they are machined. If the particle count is too high, or particles of a large size are too regular, then the machine the parts were machined with is taken off the line and serviced. That is one of the many many many reasons OEM manufacturers cost more than the crappy knockoffs.Sometimes E-bay turbos will work alright, sometimes for a week or sometimes for years. But sometimes, I assume the center catridges are assembled with some not insignificant contaminants in the bearings and they eat themselves to pieces in the first day or week. Quite probably a balancing issue as well.If you are compelled to save money, buy an E-bay turbo and send it to a turbo rebuilding shop to get the rotating assembly balanced and to be assembled with a new OEM center cartridge. You won't save as *much* money but you will save a little. All of this said, that turbo is a very poor fit to most applications you'd find in our cars. Maybe in a drag racing app or dyno queen app with very high power goals. But as mentioned, spool time will be severely compromised. I would be surprised to see meaningful boost levels before 5500... Now if you're working with a hardware setup optimized for a 4500-8500 powerband, then you will have an interesting beast on your hands and this turbo might suit that as well. socal850tuner
on a major component like the turbo I would not chance it.
VolvoWill
Thanks guys for the info. It seems like I should pay the price for a 35r. I have a built motor. I was just hoping to save some money for suspension and brake parts. Once I get the motor in the car I do not plan on taking it out. So a more reliable turbo like a Garrett 35R would be my best bet Im thinking. It seems to be working fine on other peoples cars. Thanks guys,Will
