How about are capitalistic failures as well? I'm no socialist, but capitalism is not perfect either.

Look at the health care / pharmaceutical industries: highly capitalistic, highly corrupt, and a big FAIL in general.

yeah, and the commercials for boner medicine are annoying.

Has anyone read the Pravda article about how quickly the USA is turning to Marxism?

Remember how during this past election cycle people, press, and pundits seemed so fearful of connecting Obama with socialism and his socialist/Marxist friends and mentors? The mainstream press bent over backward to avoid it, to the point of complicity. And Obama's not the only one in DC with those ideals.

See my latest posts in "Obam Nation" thread.

DD says Beck and Oreilly spew rhetoric, but no one can prove they are lying with facts. The NY Times, LA times have been nailed with factual evidence of lying and fabricating facts, let alone not reporting issues counter their position.

example? The soldier that got shot and killed in Arkansas by a Muslim terrorist Vs. Tiller the baby Killer in Kansas being shot and killed outside his church. 36 minute's of air time for the hero soldier Vs, more than 3 hours for the late term murderer. And some nut bags are saying Tillers murder was equal to that of King, the sinking of the Lusitania and other momentous event in history. Talk about rhetoric.

Don't hold your breath for SS and Medicaid. I'm retiring in 12-15 yrs and am praying Universal health care gets killed, so I won't be put at the bottom of list for treatments or meds. Or 1st in line for euthanasia.

You want more? The EU parliament, Holland, Germany, France and England have sent the socialist parties running. They are sick and tired of the wasteful spending and the in effecticve govt. And here we are rushing head long into the shit. And the stimulus tarp money hasn't even hit the streets yet. Hold onto your interest rates as they print money like made, devalue the dollar and send the economy farther into the hole.

And if anyone says "Bush" I'll say FU. It's B.H.O's baby now.

I don't have much of an opinion on pharmaceutical companies but part of the reason there cost is so high is FDA approval isn't cheap. Secondly, Healthcare and insurance both are in the shit because of the government not because of capitalism.

 You obviously have no first-hand experience or knowledge in the healthcare industry, otherwise you would know that your statements are far from truthful and humorous.

Socialism, or is it really Multinational Corporate Facism?

I really do not see any real improvement unless we dismantle the current form of political campaign funding.

We have to have an equitable fair democratic public (VOTER) funded campaigns.

We as a country must realise that we only have 300 million special intrests.

Citizens must demand our democracy back, from the Corporate interests on K Street.

Demand compentent, and decent representation of the people (taxpayers) of this country.

That is a start.

my 2 cents ftw.

I think there should be accountability and honesty in Washington.

The link is to another part of the forum and I'd like to hear some of the issues that everyone faces, since I'm possibly going to be taking up the challenge.

Fill us in.

Pharmaceuticals is big business and pure capitalism in its essence, the bottom line being the dollar. Costs for FDA approval (a whole corrupt process in its own right) has very little, if any, effect on the cost of pharmacueticals. Pharmaceutical companies charge what they do because: they create demand typically holding their own patents preventing their drugs being produced by anyone else, and simply, they can charge whatever they want and are not regulated by any healthcare standards.

Healthcare is very much a capitalist industry. While many medical groups do focus on patient care, the executives in said companies are very much about the money. The increasing problem being many healthcare companies are ran by their business model and less about patient care, even within the non-profit companies.

Healthcare insurance...well I don't see how anyone doesn't realize the healthcare insurance industry is capitalism.....it always has been.
