Think you kind of missed the point of this thread

My bad, thought this was a place to post pics of cars, must have missed the disclaimer

Mattsk8, curious how it happened? Hit a banana peel? Just too much speed for the turn?

I had just left a family function, and my cousin and I were going to head downtown for a couple drinks (he was driving his 07 M5 and I was driving my M3); it was about 10pm, about 38 degrees and raining. He was following me, and we were on the interchange from US131s to I-196e in downtown Grand Rapids (this interchange is a bridge that dumps onto a bridge that goes over the Grand River).

After the curve on the interchange where it basically empties into the expressway, I put my car into third and got a little heavy on the throttle. In an instant, the rear goes and the car starts to fish out (the rear of the car went left). I did all I could do to try to pull it back around, but w/ no success. I cranked the wheel to the left to try and correct it, but it wasn't having it. At that point I basically went sliding across 3 lanes and into the barrier on the edge of the expressway where it went over the Grand River. The car hit front first, guessing bounced off the wall and did a 180 in the air and swung back around and tailed it as well. It was a gut wrenching feeling when I stopped, and thank God it was late and there wasn't any traffic.

If I had to guess I'd say black ice, but I'll never know. On my way out to the family function, the car felt really squirly; the back just seemed like it wanted to wash out during normal driving (I actually even said something to my cousin before we left about it). I had 4 new tires put on a month before this happened, and it didn't feel at all like a hydroplane. I honestly don't know what happened. It didn't look good when the cop showed up and my cousin was behind me in his M5 though; I was getting nothing but "You sure you weren't racing?" from him. My response was, "My car is in front and its an older M3, and he's behind me w/ his M5; no we weren't racing".

More sexy classics w/ a modern spin. They did a good job w/ these IMO.

*SNIP* X2

Top Gear did a cool feature on these a few seasons ago, they're expensive but amazing.

On topic, I love the simplicity of the shot.

You still have it?? I'll buy the wheels :D

That was pretty sad actually. Those were BBS RGR wheels, 2 of them got smoked (not to mention the month old tires). I almost bought the car back from insurance because there was another M3 that was kind of a basket case near me that I could've had for around $1500. My engine, trans, rear diff, etc were all solid gold. Had a Stromung exhaust but the tips got smoked with the back of the car. I decided I didn't want the one here though so I let mine go, the one here had some pretty ghetto bumpers. Looked like he was trying to make it look like an E46, instead it looked pretty white trashy. Plus it was white, so I passed on it all and let the car go.
