If He showed Himself to His creations, then everyone would believe. However, he has placed signs throughout the earth and the heavens, and even in our own selves...in order that those WHO THINK and PONDER may recognize God and His inifinte power. An amazing observation to note is that even the biggest self-proclaimed atheist when faced with death in the most desperate moment of his/her life (for example, a plane crashing or a boat sinking) will call out to God by saying 'Oh God!!' Never will you hear them say 'Oh Monkey!' or 'Oh Darwin!' This is something that God has instilled in our nature...deep down inside, we all know there is a higher force no matter how hard we try to convince ourselves otherwise. The truth of the matter is that God has sent Messengers throughout the human era in order to guide the people unto the truth after they have strayed. And all of the Messengers, ie. Prophets called to the same thing, which is the worship of One God. They would tell people: 'Don't worship the stones and statues, don't worship each other, but rather worship the One who created you and everything around you...the only One who truly deserves to be worshipped.' I don't wish to keep going (because I could honestly go on for hours, weeks, and months about this topic)...but, if you truly believe in the existence of God, then don't you think that He will guide you IF you sincerely ask Him? The call out to Him could be as simple as: "Oh God, if you're out there, guide me unto Your path!" It has to be sincere, and leave the rest up to Him. Just a simple one of how much farther are we going to keep accepting wether what you belive this whole attitude of do what want and do what makes you feel good ? And keep succumbing to the redicouls pressures of being this bullshit PC crap. I can go with the not beliving in god fine what ever but simpley using the bible as a way to live your life and others has no ill affects what so ever. If more did it this world would be in alot better shape then it is now. Shoot forget the whole bible how about some 10 comandments at least. But hey that might affect someones feelings or make them feel bad about there disciion so we cant have that happening shoot how about some of these churches acutally read the bible for once .................. instead of just hey everyone come to church to make yourself feel good about your corrupt and disgusting things you do on a day to day bassis. DHV70 Posted August 23, 2009 Report Share Posted August 23, 2009 It was a jab at the church's "deciders", not the religion itself, justin. The ideals and the beliefs are spot on... The people running it are the ones with a problem. I don't see how they're just going to change age old doctrines because of (drum roll please, sir.) political pressure. Each religion is based on a different interpretation of scripture. Don't try bringing the church around 180 degrees. If you want radical change, start a new religion. Clearly, Martin Luther did it pretty fantastically with such "heresy," a couple hundred years ago... Why not try again? Different views = different religion. Different views != same religion, new doctrine. on a side note, I love the fact that we've actually got some intellectual people on here that know more than just how to build an engine. Personal interpretation aside, this is a centuries old debate. Martin Luther was obviously the first protestant, he did not like the rules so he started his own "club". Thats what it takes. This is OT I am curious as to the number of near death experiences you witness? 14.1% of Americans don't claim a religion and only and .4% (Not a typo) call themselves atheists, how in the world have you watched so many atheists nearly die and mutter the words jesus christ or god? My proof comes from the Quran, where the Almighty God describes those who call out to God when in desperate situations (in this case, out to sea), yet who don't particularly believe in God...as He is fully aware what is in everyone's hearts and He is the All-Knowing and the All-Hearing, He says: "He it is Who makes you travel by land and sea; until when you are in the ships, and they sail on with them in a pleasant breeze, and they rejoice, a violent wind overtakes them and the billows surge in on themfrom all sides, and they become certain that they are encompassed about, they pray to Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience: If Thou dost deliver us from this, we will most certainly be of the grateful ones. But when He delivers them, lo! they are unjustly rebellious in theearth. O men! your rebellion is against your own souls -- provision (only) of this world's life -- then to Us shall be your return, so We will inform you of what you did." (Quran, Ch.10, V.22-23) NOTES (by me): 1. 'Allah' is the Arabic word for the 'Almighty God'...for example 'Allah' is the word used for 'God' in Arabic Bibles 2. The words 'Us' and 'We' are the noble form of the words 'Me' and 'I'...for example, when the Queen of England decides to visit a country, she says: 'We will visit so and so place.'
