Volvo5.0
Did you notice any difference in the feel of the power steering using the later, smaller pulley pump when you switched over? I don't think you'll have a problem using the 99+ pump. We use the same steering rack on a '98 S/V70 as we use on a '99-'00.
lookforjoe
Been working steadily on the intake... Still need to layout the TB & vaccum/IAC ports TB is about 1/2" lower. and 2" further forward. Lateral placement is about the same.

Oreo931
Hussein - would these crankcase pressure issues be resolved by adding "windows" in the block? For the amount of time and effort you've put in, it seems like it would almost be worth it to have the block machined at this point... I will answer this question, It would take care of this problem, but larger vent hoses are recommended too, plus extra breather helps alot. But he won't take engine out and disassembly just to that now. That engine is 100%. New work is getting done on a bench, So when all the parts are ready, new head gasket , head swap Tops 2 days of work.
bum2kev
might as well drop in a newer engine at that point
lookforjoe
Look what I bought I saw that on eBay - I didn't go for it 'cos he had no info on runner angles, injector ports to be added, etc, to clear PS, etc... Price was good! I'll be curious to see what it looks like installed! Adam - What Maciek Said
lookforjoe
Worked on the TB flange/plenum end right now it's about 2" further out than stock - I'll probably have to cut it down at least 1/2"

lookforjoe
Thanks, guys! Got further along with the TB/Plenum end port for vac tree is set flange is offset slightly to direct flow into main chamber photoshopped stock bobbin overlay to check offset change based on that, the intake pipe will end up here.... . which means, even allowing for angle discrepancies & finagling the plumbing, I'll have to rework the air intake plumbing again

And r the dipsticks dofferent from an 850 to newer styles? Same capacity - 6 Quarts. Dipstick from -98 fits fine. 99- is different, but that's because of the manifold change. lookforjoe
Modified the '98 ancillary brackets to accept the '99 serpentine belt tensioner welded in some reinforcement to approximate '99 bracket notched '98 bracket & threaded bosses welded in belt routing as per ALLDATA - doesn't seem right - the backside of the belt rides on the alternator this way... (EDIT) just found that there is a dual-sided rib belt available.. inner cover has to be notched fabricated the coolant pipe for the back of the head to t/stat housing line support flange in place for manifold support Ancillary bracket modded for late PS pump alignment
