that's why I originally wanted it but it's pretty easy to convert to disributor on the 99+ engines so if there is no significant gain in output to the plug then I guess I don't need it! I'm certainly not going for over 500 hp :)

Hussien sorry for the thread jack. Back on track now.

Hussein when do you expect to install your new head and intake set up?

Well, I was going to wait until the spring is here and I can use the X1/9 as my DD, but I don't know if I have that much patience  I will be doing this in my driveway, so I do have to wait until things are somewhat warmer...

Figured out what length dual ribbed belt was needed for my hybrid setup: 6DPK1824 (Gates DK060718)

It was pointed out to me that set up this way, the alternator is spinning backwards. I'm going to run it this way anyway, but... in case I have a problem with the alternator lifespan, I drilled & tapped the alternator brace to accept an idler between the tensioner & the alt, that way I can always revert to the old style routing (with a slightly longer (than old style) belt, either 6PK1755 or 6PK1765)

I used a 99- tensioner replacement pulley, as the '98 idler is too large to fit inbetween

I have the two main lines (#11 & #15) - just need the suction hose to the reservoir. I'll need to get one of the brackets that goes on the strut tower.

Did you notice any difference in the feel of the power steering using the later, smaller pulley pump when you switched over?

Quick question. My friend sold his '00 S70 so I can't go look and see...but is that bracket that goes on the strut tower welded from the factory or is it held on with bolts?

Obviously if you went through the hassle to swap to the later expansion tank/power steering reservoir combo you could fab another bracket yourself, but I was just curious what the 99-00 stock setup is like. Couldn't find a picture.

just do this... get a newer alt.

if you used the newer stlye mounting bracket you can use the newer style alt and ac.

No, because then I have to buy the new alternator, and a new AC compressor, My AC works great as it is, I have no intention taking that apart unnecessarily!

bracket is welded. I bought a new one, it's only 10bucks. I'm probably gonna JB weld in to the strut tower. The top of it will tuck under the strut brace. Looks like this (from Jeff's s70 build thread)

I am curious as to why you trust JB weld that much? If the material is of good quality and the welds are proper, I don't see any need for a filler substance. Just curious.. ???

The manifold isn't welded, it's braised! :D

The JB weld is not for structure, it's because the braise can be porous, and is very hard to get a complete continuous seal, unlike a weld that hardens as you go along. Structurally, the braise is sound.

Worked on the COP layout & harness, to make sure it lays nicely in the channel.
