lookforjoe
Horrendous Hussein Racecraft? Hussein Holland Looks great! But that CC needs some paint work I know - I was thinking the same today. Difficult to paint & have it hold up, so I used some 3M 3" black body tape on the top section of it this afternoon. lookforjoe
Quick pull this morning Need to get a clean 4th gear pull again later, I wasn't consistently maxxing out the MAF load as usual - still has a significant timing drop in 4th between 55-6K rpm

lookforjoe
Hows the manifold testing? I broke it again on Saturday - TB extension seam cracked & rear plenum to runner wall seam cracked.. Swapped it out for the ME7 NA modified manifold. Started welding the custom manifold this afternoon, hope to have it back on soon. It's much better up top than the stock manifolds.
tchnprgrmr
once you have the ME7 NA manifold on, could you post up a comparison between that and the custom one you made? Theory says that the custom one should flow better up top but lose some low-end grunt, with the opposite holding true on the ME7 NA. I'm interested to see if that theory holds true on our engines in someway that the but-dyno can notice.
lookforjoe
Learning to weld aluminum with a MIG - the manifold is mostly done - just need to finish up the IAC & TB port. once you have the ME7 NA manifold on, could you post up a comparison between that and the custom one you made? With mine, less excess low end, and much better breathing up top. The stock manifold feels like it just running out of breath in the upper rpm range compared to mine. lookforjoe
One ongoing adjustment I've been trying to make is the AFR's under partial load, when boost is building in the 5-10psi range. It is a somewhat artificial situation, and I don't typically hold the throttle steady in the position that is required to create this symptom, but nevertheless, it exists and I've tried a range of fuel adjustments to compensate. What seems to be the key factor is the MAF flow - once it hits 90g/s, the AFR will drop to what you might expect for the given boost levels. Since timing is not being pulled, I have to assume that the higher AFR's are not detrimental (although a tad freaky given the level of boost), but I wonder if any of those out there logging with standalone EMS's see anything similar... It's easy to see the tipping point in these graphs, logged in 4th & 5th gears
BlackT5
I haven't experienced that. Some of my AFRs are a bit off in certain RPM/throttle positions, but only really in low MAP/RPM cells where I just haven't get the correct VE entered. I need to run auto fuel a few times and get those changed. A short part throttle 4th gear pull.

I have to assume it's a MAF thing I like the way your graphs display the timeline in .5 sec increments, makes it easier to read. I'll have to see if I can rescale the Logworks timeline... EDIT: figured out how to zoom in on the timeline This is a 4th pull, you can see the drop off @ 90g/s in this one too
lookforjoe
Finished up the repairs & refinishing of my manifold - my welds are not very pretty, so I ground them & filled the edges. Hopefully I'll get it back on the car this weekend, I'm scheduling for the Mustang Dyno on Tues. Here's a pic of the ME7 NA manifold I've been using this week. lookforjoe
pulls this afternoon with ME7 manifold. This map is pretty well resolved now that I'm going to swap out the manifold.
lookforjoe
I went back to the place I used last year, because they owed me dyno time. Did 2 pulls, I only datalogged the 2nd, as they normally use the OBDII port for calibration. What is eminently clear is that on their dyno, the car experiences massive timing pull that DOES NOT happen on the street. I don't understand why. Poor air flow? Calibration? Whatever the reason the results are crap. He also didn't wait until 3500rpm to go WOT, which is also a problem. The car also shifted sideways (!!!) on the dyno 2/3rds the way through - as if it was trying to adjust for traction - you can see it in the messed up dip below 6K rpm. This is the graph from Logworks of the 2nd pull, at 1.45kg/cm2 At a glance, you can see the timing (blue line) & AFR's (red line) are horrible in the dyno log. No wonder the results are such crap. compared to a similar 4th gear pull I did a couple of days ago, at 1.55kg/cm2 I just don't know where to go from here with it. I wish I had local access to someone who actually knew how to tune & can read TT. These guys tune race cars, but couldn't figure out how to manipulate TT last time I went. :-[ I tried doing a standing start -100mph pull last night with my son's iPhone dyno app, just for shits & giggles, and it came back with similar numbers, approx 250WHP. The problem with the standing starts is that the 3" MAF housing has killed off the line response, so it bogs horribly if you aren't rolling when you get on it. I'm wondering if I should just go back to the regular MAF housing & start over. I really would like to have this resolved before I switch out the head for the '03 dual VVT & Enem cams. Just feeling really fed up & frustrated, honestly.
ErikS
Just feeling really fed up & frustrated, honestly. Just be patient. Aaron and I kept popping intercooler hoses left and right testing his intake manifold yesterday. We tried to street tune a bit, but couldn't get enough load on it to get past where we have the WG set to open. Cheer up mate, things could always be worse.
