lookforjoe
On tow Friday Valve, #3 cyl. particles in oil Have to pull the engine, check the bottom end, total clutch height with flywheel to compare with stock, in case that has fucked the thrust bearing, causing the engagement/disengagement part of the problem... gilber33
Geez dude. Props to you for hanging in there (and to the Mrs.)
Captain Bondo
A bent valve AND bearing issues? I assume that logged 9600rpm is some kind of error. If not, well of course you killed it.
dublin14
stuff T!!! yeah slipping of the clutch would explain the 9600rpm. Spec clutch? Edited May 21, 2012 by dublin14 1

Not logging error I believe, the motor over revved when the clutch slipped, first on a 3-4 shift, then on a 4th pull. I tried the 4th pull because I don't see how the master cylinder could have anything to do with the problem if it slipped without shifting. Until I get it apart it's all speculation on the bottom end & clutch.
blkaplan
Looks like the over revving from the slipping clutch took its toll on the valve train Valve float is a bitch 2
fischmama
Go back to 7600 on TT. I have observed that I can overrev it well over 8000 (even over 8400), sometimes it feels like there is no rev limiter at all.
Captain Bondo
stuff T!!! yeah slipping of the clutch would explain the 9600rpm. Spec clutch? Huh? You can't blame clutch slip for the motor over revving dude. The rev limiter will enforce the rev limit, clutch slip or not. Assuming it is set appropriately, of course. 4

But the rev limiter didnt work and the car over rev`d due to a slipping clutch. Either way its a stuff deal. fischmama
hasnt TT wasted enough of your time and money yet? get the vems going once and for all Well since Carlisle is over now, he's got no reason to stay with TT. 1
lookforjoe
Rev limit was set at 8k In the past I always hit fuel cut at 8400 Don't see how that will stop the motor from free revving ?
ozzimark
If the fuel was cut, the engine should stop revving higher. The question then is did the ECU simply not respond to the rising RPMs quickly enough, or did it not cut at all? I would expect a significant change in EGT and AFR if it did actually cut. Commander Riker
Here's to hoping the issues are as minor as possible. Good luck on diag.
