lookforjoe
Motor out Here's the clutch disengagement/engagement problem fingers never came back PP disc flywheel DM/SM comparison
laird
Did that ever fully engage?
lookforjoe
Did that ever fully engage? Well, now that I think about it, the shifter felt a little 'stiff' from the get-go, but didn't exhibit a real problem until that 1st hard (ish) pull after 400 miles run-in
Jardim
Feel sorry for the BS thats happening to you, hope you get everything good again. What would cause the fingers not to come back?
maciekb2002
Just tell me how the f... Company as big as spec missed that little fact that springs can be pushed to far. Parts they use are some cheap mexican junk . It probably has that globe logo on it. 1
fischmama
How is the overall height of the new setup compared to the old setup? hard to tell on the pic if there is any difference or not.
lookforjoe
measured out the same between the two, about 8.25" from back of ring gear to fingers
BlackT5
Hmm. I thought you were supposed to use a dualmass clutch kit with that flywheel? Your pressure plate looks like one from a singlemass kit. Which Spec kit did you get? I searched but couldn't find where you mentioned it. Do you have any pics of when you tightened down the pressure plate originally? Did the fingers fully retract at that point? The measurement from the ring gear could be close to the same as original if the fingers never sat correctly.

Unless you spec'd some different pressureplate application that uses a raised mounting surface. If infact the pressure plate was intended to be used with a flat flywheel, the way it's installed would give it very little clamping force as the diaphram should be compressed as it its torqued to spec onto the flywheel.

You can't slag Spec for that.
Big Will
I believe he used the flywheel that both ViVA and a VS vendor in the UK sells that is meant to allow the M66 to be mated to a single mass style clutch kit hence the single mass flywheel. Not according to their website... They only recommend to get the sprung version of the clutch disc for the spec version. http://www.vivaperformance.com/single-mass-flywheel-m66-awd-manual-gearbox/

Viva lists the flywheel to work with M66 as a direct replacement, meaning to work with the dualmass clutch. http://www.vivaperformance.com/single-mass-flywheel-m66-awd-manual-gearbox/ They link to a Spec kit (SO603FS) that is listed to work with both the stock dualmass flywheel or their singlemass replacement. It also gives the option for sprung or unsprung disc depending which flywheel you're using. http://www.vivaperformance.com/spec-clutch-kit-stage-3-volvo-s60r-v70r-s40-v50-t5-c30-c70-t5/
Johann
Page 87. It's the dual mass version pressure plate, The single mass flywheel is made to dual mass spec so it is higher compared to an 850 style single mass. Single mass pressure plate looks like this,
blkaplan
Got yah, atleast he has the correct parts. Please forgive my ignorance on this but if you are eliminating the dual mass element of a dual mass flywheel why wouldn't you just run a single mass flat flywheel? Is that not compatible with the m66?
