Hussein's 1998 V70 Xr : The Force Awakens

saw Adam's (Oreo931) 850 in Philly this morning.

The AFR from 7000rpm onwards wouldn't make me happy. Another rebuild probably wouldn't make you happy either...I'd try to get the other EMS working before spending much more time at high revs.

Pretty sure I've found the cause of the lean AFR's (at higher RPM's) regardless of WOT or fuel table settings - which only resulted in higher IDC's.

Logged fuel pressure - pretty significant drop off. I do need to confirm this with a mechanical gauge, but, I think it's time to install the DW300 I've been sitting on for the past year. I've kept putting it off since the AWD pump is such a PITA

Yeah a a few hrs on a dyno and being able to change whats needed while you stand there would be the best bet. Or are you going to wait till the VEMS goes in?

<quote="fischmama" data-cid="2188088">H, you really need to get another base line to see where you are at. All these mods with no substantial numbers...its killing me.Are you still running the stock Volvo pump or Walbro 255? <endquote>

I'll look into a dyno up in CT. I would also like a baseline #, but, I don't know that it's that critical, I know I'm well over the numbers I put down with the 60-1. I had fun yesterday with one of those new Mustang GT whatevers - we did a four gear pull and I was walking away from him - he wasn't happy. Had to back off since I have my snowtires on - gets a little squirrely under heavy accel...Stock AWD pump, which is higher flow than 850. The DW300 is not a direct replacement, I'll have to modify the sender to fit it. Wondering whether I should add a feeder pump to the left saddle, I thought there was one, but the catalog only shows the level sensor & feeder tube

This will NEVER happen. Dyno's around here are $$$ just for 3 pulls. Add hours for working/tuning inbetween, you're talking over $1000 MINIMUM. I'll keep street tuning, it suits me best.

EDIT: WTF is up with the fucking new tagging!!!!!

Take a road trip out here...there are a few dynos around us that are not too bad....actually one up in WI that's AWD. They charge $90 for the first and $70 for every hour after that and I think that includes the guy tuning it, not sure though. 2 hour minimum. That was when I inquired about MS tuning.

New custom adjustable cam gears in the works

Picture3.png

designed to not interfere with the cam seal flange area of the head

IMG_1638.jpg

This way, it is not necessary to stress the cam/cam gear mounting bolts every time I feel the need to tweak the settings.

If anyone else is interested, Miller's Mule is the company making them. They specialize in Fiat/Lancia/BMW, but will make all kinds of custom parts such as this.

Are they making these as a regularly avail. part, or special just for you? I'm interested in a set if they don't break the bank.

After a conversation with Ben (BMac) this evening, I'm leaning towards adding an external 044 Bosch pump. The main pump is still fully functional, just not up to the delivery now required by my setup. The external pump will be fed by the in tank, just like the older Volvo's were. Shouldn't be too difficult to splice in after the filter, that way I can quickly determine whether it resolves the pressure/volume drop .

I pressure tested the FPR this afternoon, just to be certain it wasn't bleeding off under extended boost conditions. Also added a check valve to the dedicated vacuum line that goes from FPR to inlet pipe on 97-98 ME4.4 cars. The hard line is very small ID, I'm sure too prevent direct pressure loss at the FPR, but I figure it can't hurt.IMG_1760.jpg

What fuel pump are you running H?

Stock AWD setup

Not sure about the aero motive FPR, I already have an adjustable FPR, in the stock pod housing.

I'm going to start with just the extra pump, I'll wire it with its own relay, using the stock pump feed as a trigger. Have to figure got a location, not much clear space with the AWD.
