Have you had the car on the dyno yet

No. No dyno's in my area. I'll have to consider going over to CT - Will, Ben & I went to one in Stamford years ago that did AWD.

I'm looking at replacing the last hotside with 3", and the inlet with all aluminum 3.25", including the MAF housing. Just posting layout pics to look at the overall setup again

Aluminum version of my 3.25" MAF housing arrived today

waiting on the rest of the piping.

3rd & 4th gear logs.

added a degree of timing in the 6800 & 7200 cells, I'm not seeing any pull, so I think it's safe to add.

Ordered a super-atomizing CM10 nozzle. I've been using am Aquamist .8mm, can't be flowing more than 300cc/min, if that.

Installed the FoMoCo pump from Nathan today.

First I tried running the pump outlet back into the main breather can

IMG_1624.jpg

this put slight positive pressure on the two cam cover vent inlets (didn't try it under load), so I made a "Y" pipe & plumbed the pump outlet into the vent line to the catch can

So, with my setup, I only see about 1 inHg vacuum draw on the crankcase breather (measured from a fitting about 5 inches before the pump). If I remove & cap the two cam vents, it goes up to about 2 inHg, but there is no point in that. After testing with a old school vac gauge, I hooked the line up to the MAP I use for logging EBP. I don't know that the gauge is scaled correctly, it didn't register even as much vacuum as I saw on the gauge, but it stayed very constant even when I wound the motor up around 8500.

The main benefit seems to be heat extraction from the crankcase  - the breather lines & can get very warm to the touch now. Should help with preventing condensate formation in the breather lines, if nothing else.

Pump is just tie-wrapped to the inlet plumbing for now. Fits nicely just above the shifter linkage.

For the time being it's wired to continuously run, I don't want a restriction on the main breather line that could occur through the pump, not running. I do need to switch the relay power supply to a accessory (15) so that it doesn't run whilst cranking.

I have never seen someone cram more crap into an engine bay. Nice work H. Did you look into Lugtronic for tuning at all?

I am starting to run out of room... :arob:

I haven't looked into Lugtronic yet, it's gonna be the spring before I get to the conversion, I need to do it right which does mean allowing for extended downtime as I transition. I'm thinking about going back to that dyno in Stamford we went to years ago with Will, just to see what I have now.

Hi Maciek! Where have you been? Tied up with work?

I rewired the vac pump using a Volvo AC delay relay (1363449); this way, there is no power to the pump relay until the alternator is charging, and then there is a 10sec delay before it switches current to the pump.

spliced into the D(+) wire in the right side harness conduit (soldered & wrapped), ran the wire through the loom over the fan shroud & to the relay

Any particular reason to go that big H or just feeling bored? I've always considered 2.5" about ideal considering it'll be plenty for well over 600hp. Otherwise it's just bringing velocity down and delaying boost ever so slightly. Are you shooting for 1000 ? :D

Maybe a bit of both. Can't do anything with the VEMS install until the spring. Looking for ways & areas to streamline, and I didn't care so much for the harsh transition I had on the compressor outlet. The vacuum pump is helping draw condensate through all the breather vent hoses, so that's a good thing. I'll do some more logging & see if there is any difference in boost onset or temps. I didn't feel any thing negative in the quick romp around the block last night.
