Forgot to post this 2-3 steep uphill log, 60-100 just over 4sec, even with 2nd into third gear shift :)  Previous best was 4.34sec in straight 3rd gear pull. Have to try that again once the AWD is back together. Some timing reduction was done in the 13-14ms load range after this pull .

I drove it today in FWD mode, and it's horrible; wheelspin at part throttle, torque steer, etc. I really can't imagine driving a FWD with this much power, it sucks. With the AWD, there's no drama, just that awesome get up & poking go feeling :) .

Quoting this as I agree TOTAL with this statement. ;)

That is fast!  A C6 Z06, Ferrari F40, Ford GT40, and 997 GT3 RS 4.0 all run 60-100 in about the same time!

Should have thought of that ;) EDIT: Just emailed him & asked if I can get a discount, can't hurt.

I just ordered one, since I'm going to install a brand new bevel gear, I'd like to make sure it lasts as long as possible. I removed the worn BG today, & the splines are fucked, in the BG & in the (new when I did the Quaife) collar.

So, new BG, Colorado DS, HD Spline Coupler & a bunch of hardware.

H... we don't believe you.  We need videos of this!!  :P

EDIT:  Tried to trim this quote as I also agree with this statement, but damn UI takes me back a page when I try to delete it.  So, I'm just quoting the whole fucking lot.  Fuck it.  lol

I'll work on some videos once it's back on the road.

Couldn't get the collar off the Quaife yesterday. I'll leave it until I pull the trans in a couple weeks (after Florida trip). In the mean time, I also found the DS inner CV has excessive play - I can feel it clicking holding the axle & rocking the spline collar. So, reman manual axle from Volvo (8111307) is also on order.  Seals: 6843481, 9143911. Gear oil 31259380. Can't locate the proper manual axle aftermarket. May have to look into Raxles like Trent (where is he, BTW?) :)

While I have the AWD apart, I'm going to redo the heater hose elbows to get clearance for my 4" "J" pipe (currently have 3.5" with 4-3.5" step coupler @ turbo inlet as stock heater elbows rub up against even that). Also going to drop the oil pan & take care of the Crank Scraper & Windage Tray Kit I got last fall from Ishihara-Johnson.

Also need to drop the AC compressor & remove a couple shims to compensate for the clutch plate wear - it shuts off when it feels like it due to excessive clutch plate air gap, not bad for 195K, though.

While that's going on, I need to re-wire my X1/9 for LH2.4, install coilovers I fabricated, and chop the fenders off in prep for my Dallara body kit. Then I can measure the spacers I need for my 15" wheels & tires. Going to be a busy summer.

I'll look up inside with a good light tomorrow & see if there is any evidence of where the aluminum chunks may have come from. The swarf I dunno, it's non-ferrous. Maybe left over from when the CHRA of the PTE6262 let loose couple years ago.

Just tearing them up, eh?

Heard that Raxles isn't doing volvo axles anymore.  :(

I've had success with axles unlimited in Charlotte, NC.  They offer exchange service and are very reasonable.  They also offer higher performance rebuilds to include larger bearing races and cages and poly boots with moly grease.  Just stay on them on the core refund,  took me a couple months to get mine back and it was a partial because one of the axles couldn't be rebuilt.

I called him a while ago (4 months?) to see about this, his words were he would still do them but you have to ship him a Volvo original only. Quoted me about $180 for full rebuild of the axle.

Of course things change over time, but like I said it wasn't that long ago I called.

Raxles quoted $189 per axle to rebuild. They don't offer racing axles for Volvo.

Got the pan cleaned up & re-installed the pickup tube with oring, oil feed orings & pan. Worked on the heater hose elbows & the 4" turbo inlet.

Did the lower hose first - the stock one was being pushed into the firewall connector at an angle - the rub marks are visible on the connector.

Have to remove & cut the upper hose fitting tomorrow & redo the inlet recirc dump from the Greddy back to the new 4" inlet pipe.

split collar & extract stock elbow  - cut off end of hose (approx 1") to just below previous crimp area (not shown).

Did the steering column uJoint, then started putting the AWD back together. Had to use an air chisel to get the spline collar off the Quaife output splines.

Volvo BG & left axle, PdV coupler, Colorado reman DS.
