BtownVolvo
I think we need to start placing bets on how much it's going to weigh. I'm in for 4800
Kashif
So the new S60 will be a thousand pounds heavier then the original one? According to this unofficial website http://www.fastestlaps.com/car_Volvo_S60_R.html The old R with less power and weighing 3667 lbs did it's 0-100km/h in 6.3s Where as this one with awd according to the article at Swedespeed http://forums.swedesped.com/zerothread?id=134363 does 0-100km/h in 6.5s so yeah it might be a little bit more heavier ~3700-3800 lbs
ViperVette
By putting the exhaust manifold like that, Volvo decreases the horizontal dimension of the engine by 1-2" (assumption from pictures). They then have 2 more inches in the 'design' to make feasible the safety features, i.e. 2 more inches of crush zone. If I was designing cars with my engineering degree not medical devices, I'd do the same... Sorry speed. Safety wins.
Kashif
After have multiple episodes of deceased people being wheeled off to the morgue behind me while I take care of people in the E.R. Safety should always win before speed.

Kashif
You realize my S40, one of the smallest cars Volvo makes, is 4300 without AWD... What are you talking about, a google search on "volvo s40 curb weight" shows most websites showing it to be ~3200 lbs Even the S40 Owner's manual states that a S40 Weighs in at, and I quote, "FWD 3165-3300 and AWD 3415-3455" How big of a turbo have you installed in your car? :P
ErikS
I'm in for 4800 You realize my S40, one of the smallest cars Volvo makes, is 4300 without AWD... Err, my XC60 has a curb weight of 4200 lbs, with AWD. I think you all are confusing curb weight (weight of the car by itself) and the gross vehicle weight (weight of the car with four adult passengers, full tank of gas, and a full load of cargo with a hitch.) BtownVolvo
I did have them mixed up, but technically, I was still talking apples to apples. Above I said GVW, which is what I figured everyone else was talking about...
RZT5
"Later during the first year of production, the all-new S60 will also become available as a 2.0 GTDi variant (T5) producing 240 hp and torque of 320 Nm. Furthermore, there will be a 1.6-litre GTDi engine available in two versions: 180 hp (T4) and 150 hp (T3) with torque of 240 Nm." "T5 2.0 4-cyl in-line 240 bhp 320 Nm" wtf
