i'm looking at infinity reference right now (i don't really need super kappa quality)

they're relatively cheap and (from what i've heard) have good sound quality

Fitted 6"x9" 250w pioneer's into the rear hat shelve. HUMUNGAS differance. Needed quite a bit of mods. Had to make extention boxes and fitted the OEM grilles. Driven by a 2x 400w Mosfet amp. Replaced dash tweeters with "Infinaty" piezo type tweeters. No mods needed there.

Does not look at all shabby, not too much work and DEF. worth the effort.

I'll contribute:

Dash: Disconnected.

Front Door: Infinity 5012i speakers, perfect fit, but cannot use all four screws to install, only two can secure it without modification.

Rear Door: Stock, planning on removal, until I find a suitable replacement.

Rear Deck: Stock, bought a pair of Infinity 6812CF, but have yet to install them.

All powered by a Planet Audio 200.4 Amp.

EDIT: ok all memphis components

3.5 pr coaxials in the dash- fit perfectly--- blown now, replaced with pr 4" alot of cutting required and the passenger side rattles on the ac vent

5.25 m class coaxials in the front doors-tight fit

5.25 m class coaxials rear doors- perfect fit

memphis 1 inch tweeters mounted on front doors

6x9 m class three ways bottom mounted in the rear deck for now, something custom soon

memphis pr 100.4 powering front doors and rear deck 50 watts per channel

memphis pr 1000.1 powering two memphis m3 12's bridged to one ohm in a memphis slot ported box

everything controlled by an alpine 9851--- exchanged for an old school 9827, last of the 4 volt preouts

96 850 GLT Wagon

Boston 5 1/4 components in the front doors,

tweaters in the front dash (slight mod on the tweaters to fit that cartridge.

Stock in the back for now.

Is anyone else rocking Bostons? or am I opening myself up to mass ridicule?

For a cheap but nice sounding upgrade, a simple component set like mine makes me a happy commuter. Without yet toying with amps or subs, a component set was the best thing I've done to the car.

That doesn't really benifit this thread in any way.

Besides:

OEM speaker replacement stories only please. :)

+ Custom fibreglass door pocket with 6" Response Kevlar Component

Rear door: 6" Clarion component (custom mount tweets for a front stage for rear seat passengers)

Rear shelf: (was jvc 6x9 but still deciding on how they sound, might get some 2-way coaxils)

Boot: Custom rack/box/wiring/sd blah blah blah

I'll make a new thread in the showroom when she gets back from the mechanics.

Oh all is powered off amplifiers. (Figures are WRMS)

150ea for response

50ea for rear speakers

720 for subwoofer

Totalling over 1300WRMS to date. (Ive another amp to power boot speakers 100W -not installed)

Those are just generic sizes they get from who knows where. No one at Crutchfield has ever gone out and test fitted speakers in every make and model, they just expect you to believe they did.

Nothing fit's "perfectly" in the 850 locations, but 5.25 is about as close as you're going to get for the front doors.
