Captain Bondo
Nope front of the block is completely different between the two T6's - I looked into converting it. No biggie, I can make something...
volvo500bhp
Further out: Hi Captain Why don't you re liner the block to get rid of the poor design looks like the T6 is no better then a 2.3 T5 Russ Yeah my engine did something kind of like that... went through the cylinder though and torched the metal out on to the cooling jacket walls. and this My guess is a hot spot in the cylinder coupled with a HG fail. No audible detonation. 23-24 psi on a 16t running around 11-12:1 afr. Hi 550 Sorry to see this i no what thats like we must start a liner split pic thread lol what ex manifold have you got ?? 550
I was running a stock manifold. I'm sure that didn't help. haha
Captain Bondo
Hi Russ, Yeah the T6 is not any bettere than the 2.3 T5. It's exactly the same thing just with an extra cylinder stuck on. I am going to add some reinfircing material on my other engine to make the deck "semi closed". I am going to add some reinfircing material on my other engine to make the deck "semi closed". If you want my advise which i doubt you need but i would re liner the block like i had to do with much stronger and thicker ones then volvo and also get rid of the slit between the bores and it lasts well so far............. Captain Bondo
I agree- sleeving is the only true silver bullet. But, unfortunately I am cheap and I like experimenting so I'll probably try reinforcing it first.

Rsterns
I agree- sleeving is the only true silver bullet. But, unfortunately I am cheap and I like experimenting so I'll probably try reinforcing it first. OK, I've read the string, and looked at the photos, and if indeed the crack is large enough to allow the sleeve to move, I'm at a lose as to why you would make any attempt to repair it. Any idea as to how far that crack travels? The vertical slits only go down around an inch. It's my understanding that they are there to provide an extrusion affect for the metal in the headgasket, providing a superior seal between cylinders. Filling them would have a negative effect in my opinion. Unless you could remove the entire liner, drill and pin the crack to prevent it from propagating, then resleeving, sounds like a lot of work and more expensive than finding a JY block to replace it. Captain Bondo
I am reinforcing a healthy, non-cracked block. I am aware of the fact that the block pictured is monkeyed and not worth fixing. I am not filling those slits either, that would not help anything. You'll understand when i do it. Captain Bondo
Yeah it's too time consuming to get into the details on both boards, I do like VS but I'm more used to thinking things through via tbricks. Anyways I pulled the head off of my old motor and man it looks fantastic in there. There are 4 exhaust vales and 2 intake valves I am super super in love with due to the previous tbelt skipping incident, but otherwise it all looks pristine, even the bore that I ghetto-honed and threw a new piston in.
