2001 Audi Allroad Quattro Purchase

Looking at a 2001 Audi Allroad 2.7T Quattro with 116k miles on it. The asking price is $4k. One owner, flawless service records and Carfax. Black on grey.

Is this a biturbo? I'm not there to see it...my parents want it. It's an automatic, and they can't remember if it's tiptronic, but I think it should be.

I know turbo problems exist, but otherwise, anyone have any pointers here? Any other known issues? With a good service history, is it a reliable car? I think $4k is a nice deal on a car like this. The exterior and interior are flawless...not a scratch or tear or anything anywhere to be seen!

Just bring me to either side of the fence here so I can tell my parents to pull the trigger, or to just keep the 1993 LS400 beater they have.

Yeah, Audi Allroads have the same motor as the S4, so it's biturbo. One of my buddies who has an 01 S4 told me the turbos go out usually at 100k miles. I think his car has ~120k and he's mentioned the turbos are getting weaker and will need replaced soon. I remember he told me once on how much replacing the turbos can be if it's done at the dealership with all new parts and it was a ridiculous amount.

Expensive to keep up. Brother in law sold his S4 and ended up getting a new A3, got tired of paying for stuff once the warranty expired.

They have a manually adjustable air suspension, and the bags will tend to go after some mileage so id look into that. Also the turbos can go at a pretty early mileage compared to volvos. John Sharp knows a lot about them, i think he has one now actually.

Nice car if all the service is up to date

I've had a 2001 a6 2.7t quattro for about four and a half years, put about 40k miles on it. Right around 100k is when the suspension usually starts to go. Expensive to maintain but such a pleasure to drive. My a6 has generally been pretty good to very good reliability wise. I say go for it. The adjustable suspension is a very cool thing and useful, if you use it.

turbo's take pre-mature sh!ts if stock. Timing chain changes are a fawking oh yeah! to do, other than that they are fun cars.

Stick some K04's on there with k24 compressor wheels and fall in love.

John (Leurven) bought one of these to replace his R. Shoot him a message, I'm sure he has some good insights.

Use to work at an Audi/VW/Porsche dealer

The AllRoads were one of my favorites, Adjustable air ride, Bi-turbo and relatively quick car

We didn't get to many Allroads compared to A4,A6's

Thanks for the pointers fellas. What we decided to do is to go ahead and buy the Allroad, and keep the Lexus alongside. If the Allroad runs well and doesn't have too many issues, we'll chuck the Lexus off of a bridge, but if the Allroad starts having any signs of failure, it's going to a lucky buyer for almost free lol.
