HPmom23
I have an '04 XC90 that has been trouble for over a year. The car runs for a few days - sometimes a week or more, and then it won't start. I've had the battery replaced twice, the starter motor replaced twice, and the software upgrade. My mechanic has checked everything he can think of and we still have this problem. If there is anyone out there with an answer I would be very grateful! 550
There is some kind of parasitic drain. This would mean something is still running once the car is off. Does the car have navigation?
flyfishing3
did you hard wire anything into the car? stereo, radar dect? etc. something is def. draining the battery.
HPmom23
Yes, it has Nav. No I didn't hard wire anything...but I suspect it is either the Nav or Entertainment System. I suggested we disconnect that but the mech thought it could be an issue as it is part of a system which includes the radio, CD changer, etc. Any thoughts appreciated. I am at my wits end...three kids (one a baby) and hubby isn't keen on buying a car right now. I HAVE to get this resolved.
68123GT
Have you taken it to the dalership to look at it? I believe there is a s/w update on some of those to keep this from happening. I beleive it is in the infotainment center might even be a recall? Shoot me a VIN and I can check for outstanding campaigns.

I've already had the sw upgrade on the info system - in fact he tried to install what we thought was a newer version and it said it was already installed. 550
Pull the NAV CD out and see what happens. Sometimes, in certain cases, the motor of the NAV unit does not shut off. The disc will just continue to spin, thus causing the battery to die eventually. I have seen this personally in my suburban and in a mercedes. If it works (i.e. the car starts every day) I'll post here to let you know.
matt b
Insurance card should have your VIN on it (or your insurance paper at home).
