wattsat
Well, after seeing the install of TL2 I decided that I had to put my idle Focals in my front doors. I had wanted to do this since I bought the car but was hesitant to cut the door panels. After seeing that it was possible I gave it a try.Well, started this afternoon and about 6 hours later I am finished. Now I need to replace the HU and the system will be complete. Here is a link to my write up.http://www.4113pittsburg.com/Automobiles/9...all/default.aspHere are pics. wattsat
I don't think there is anything difficult about doing this. One thing to note is that not all speakers will fit. I originally was going to use my Morell's but their magnet would not fit into the factory hole in the door. So even though the Focals were a deeper speaker their magnet would fit in the hole. So, before you do any cutting of the door panel, be sure that there is enough depth for the speaker to fit.The sound is certainly much better than the 5.25"s that were in there. That's why I chose the 240GT's; they're shallower than the standard 240's. I'm stoked to see someone else try this relatively simple mod. I think I feel a 6.5" revolution beginning!

wattsat
Andrew, how do they sound?!?!?They sound much much better than the 5.25 that were in there. I have not had enough time since the install to try all of my test music but thus far I am pleased. If you are searching for the best sound, kicks are still the best. If you are wanting a factory look then this is the way to go. These really help with the lack of midbass upfront.Right now my biggest limitation is the factory Headunit. The quality of the outputs is not nearly good enough for clean sound. Next on my list is a good HU with solid Preamp outputs.I wish I had done this from the start.
