Zappo
OK, 100 parishioners, that's a statistical zero. Don't assume these are the 2 churches out there that will do stuff like this.
volvotool
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. Exactly. Ideally, the pastor of this church would have a change of heart, agree with you and call this off, but if not.... I think that's why it would be perfect to hold a bible-burning right across the street. It would hold up a mirror to the stupidity of the Koran burning, plus provide a perfect illustration of the kind of freedom we have in this country, to wit, that just because something is holy and sacred to you, it might be laugh-out-loud funny to someone else, and when they laugh you just have to suck it up. It would never occur to me to enter someone's place of worship and make fun of the proceedings, but if you drag your religious beliefs out it public and demand that we all 'respect' them when they're as pig-eyed stupid as this crap, then I'm just going to laugh at you. Loud and hearty. :D

Zappo
And it was called off. What a surprise. Probably community pressure. Government had no authority. He got a lot of air time for him and his church. Now that the idea has been planted, lets see how many will actually do their own on the 11th. s70turbo1998
Community wasn't the cause. FBI was. One of the sections of government I truly appreciate.

JCviggen
I think its partly because no real Muslim of any importance at all has condemned the tactics, motives or beliefs of the radical element in Islam. You are scarily wrong there. Muslim leaders who condemn any form of islamic inspired violence outnumber the nutjobs by a huuuuge amoumt. They just dont normally get any airtime. This kind of misinfirmation is outrageous. And on the burning books thing, I couldnt give a toss what they burn but you have to admit that the whole idea behind it is a shambles. The only real intent is a "fuck you" to Muslims and that America can do without. Its not like you'd escape unharmed from the bible belt either if you spray painted "jesus was a fag" on your car. volvotool
You are scarily wrong there. He's not alone. Millions of people here watch Fox 'News' and suffer the delusion that it's an actual news network! The tragically funny part is that when they go out in public and repeat the network's "talking points" verbatim, they seem genuinely surprised to encounter actual disagreement from other people. In their worldview, though, we've all been brainwashed by the "liberal media." Edited September 10, 2010 by volvotool 3

volvotool
not here to debate just curious as to what news station you watch everyday to obtain your thoughts? I watch and read a little of everything. I don't have any one new source that I trust absolutely. FWIW, there are some liberal web sites that are about as ridiculous as Fox 'News' is, but the difference is they don't have an audience of millions and a 24/7 cable news outlet, so their influence on American politics is less-than-marginal.
