mizuno8750
I'm in, I was in this type of thing on a golf website It was $100 (yeh, a little steap), but we got first dibs on deals and exclusive pix and info. Also there was just a separate section to talk about anything. If you want to rant, or rag on other members, go for it. It was well received and I think this would be, too. -walt

Madman55
Definetly in! i know next to nothing and hate paying the rediculous volvo labor rates! Plus i want to be able to do my turbo, downpipe, and intake mode MYSELF. Maybe even paint?!
96 t5 wagon
Charles, fwiw, I used to belong to Turbo Diesel Register and it was great, you didn't have all the riff raff guest posting, cause you could't search and post if you weren't a member. Which I realize that some people are at work, anyhoo, It cost 35 bucks for a year membership, and a quarterly magazine. The magazine obviously isn't something that's going to happen, but I would support a paid subscription. Although, I think 20 bucks would be the highest that some people woud pay for..←i agree on the $20. and when you look at what you get for the year (unlimited tech support WITH PICTURES AND VIDEO) who can complain !! i am all for it ;)
josh_S70GLT
I think it's a good idea as well, I mean $20 a month is less than $2 a month, and that's less than the cost of 2 bottles of pop...even though I don't drink pop...but that's not the point hereI would be most interested in videos and higher-res pics. Sherman
I guess I'm one of the cheap basterds to vote no. IMO, it's a public forum for people to get help on issues they are having. The idea is that all members contribute to this end. It doesn't work if all you do is take. When you work on your car and gain experience, you share it back to the group. There are some things that Rich has been very helpful in providing, and I'm very greatful for it so don't get me wrong, that kind of help got me here and keeps me here... and because of that reputation should allow VS to inclease it's advertising revenue which is far more lucrative than membership fees. It would also become difficult to differentiate between premium and standard content. What if a member provides infrmation in the forum to a non-paying member that is also available in the primium section, even unwittingly? Does the thread get moved?Just my 2/100. I think the additional content is a great idea and would icnrease your readership, but like a paper (a what???) and TV, your revenue is from advertising, not membership fees. The higher the membership, the higher you're advertising charge.
AnthonyR
The forum itself wouldn't change and would still be accessable to everyone, just some thourough in depth writeups, video how to's etc would be available to premium members. That and premium members also have access to a gallery to store images and video clips. Might also get an email. Just things like that.
Plan_B
Looking at the idea of starting a premium section. Repairs and mods and all that good stuff would still be free. What would be in the premium section is more support. IE your tech questions get answered first by someone qualified, and you will have access to movies on repairs and modifications. Subscription would be something like 20 a year. The movie section would of course start out small but we would build it up as we did the picture repair lib. Again just spitballing.← :D Edited March 16, 2005 by fast_box
