Scootdiggity
That's dumb. Chuck isn't charging you to list your items for sale. Last I checked Ebay listing fees are .50 for a basic BIN with no extras, for 30 days. Add a subtitle, extra pics...and you'll be over a few dollars listing fees right off the bat. And that's with the powerseller discount. For average joe's it's more. And it sure seems that the final value fees on VS are less than Ebay as well. Personally I'll take the free listing in the VS auction (captive audience) and pay the fee if it sells. If I'm going to have to pay a final value fee of sorts anyways I'd rather it go back to this site than Ebay. People always gripe and moan when changes are made to the old way of doing business. Should I link back to all the threads from the past few months where people are asking for accountability? This is how you do it. Besides, what will this cost you in the long run? It's better for buyers, and unless you are routinely selling multiple thousand dollar items the fee structure is reasonable. Remember volvospeed auctions a few years back it never took off and died, reason being because ebay offers you more exposure if you are going auction route, how many people visit volvospeed? and how many visit ebay daily? Chuck already stated he rather get rid of for sale section for good so this is the right move to do that. Their will always be scammers out there and if people do their homework they would realize who and who not to do business with, its that simple. Now it comes down too, will this help volvospeed as a whole no it wont because their will still be scammers they will just have to pay a little more, it happens on ebay. If it is helping anybody the most it is helping chuck. Rather than take steps like how long a person has been a member and other reasonable steps that could have been implemented into the old for sale section and help everyone as a whole, we become like ebay 2

Sure, Ebay gives you more exposure per se. But it doesn't cost you anything to list it for sale here. Nothing is preventing you from listing in both places. If it sells here, you'll pay a lower final value fee. If it doesn't, no harm done, you won't have to pay anything. 1

So the buyer is in the same boat as before. We need changes that benefit us as a whole. 4
beewerks
I like the fact that the new system has a feedback star system like eBay, and I like having all of the info listed nicely about the buyer. But what is absurd are all of the fees, I like giving lots of pictures of things I'm selling, but I'm not paying extra for that! And who is getting all of the fee money and what are we getting out of it? How many other forums in the world have a system as complex and spendy as this? /<done>

mrtl321
My only question on the change is what kind of privacy policy/info sharing will there be with the new system and all of the new information gathered? I'm going to miss the old for sale section. :( Edited October 6, 2010 by mrtl321

Che'_Moderator
My only question on the change is what kind of privacy policy/info sharing will there be with the new system and all of the new information gathered? Its no more info that before. I already have your email, every ip you have ever used, and your paypal and shipping info. As for fees, Volvospeed will net o dollars until 140k have been sold at a min. If I wanted to make money if you guys I would nix garage, for sale, and chat right now. Then lock all forums to guest replies and do away with supporting all together. I would banner this beast to the max, 5 google, 20 kontera, and 3 yahoo banners per page and target SEO. Yet for some reason I drop 700+ a month for features that are a loss. FAIL! Non supporting. No effect on you

Go look up colco for a dual Xeon with 8 gigs ram, and two 200gig raid 1 containers per month with a cpanel license. For IT being your hobby I think you are leaning dangerously close to hippie. 1
JHEIII874T5M
Just had lunch the other day with a forum member who was telling me that so many scams were going on. Good move Charles, may have some parts I could move cheap to help get the motor going even more quickly on that site.
