ct98saffv70r
Can anyone point out where the exact vacuum line that needs to be plugged is with a diagram?
ct98saffv70r
nevermind!! re-read the thread and found the purple line going to the back of the engine.
ct98saffv70r
in case this helps anyone else: I dropped down the splash guard on the driver's side with a 10mm wrench and pried open the air pump with a flat screwdriver.. there are 3 tabs to do this on: I then removed and taped off the power wires that you see here. After that, i put it all back together and then pulled the ECU box apart to get to the harness, and wire tapped the diode into place like so: After putting that back together, i found the purple vacuum line, disconnected it, then put vacuum tube caps over the nipple.. the size i had was a bit too big, so i zip tied it to the solenoid here: in case this helps anyone else: I dropped down the splash guard on the driver's side with a 10mm wrench and pried open the air pump with a flat screwdriver.. there are 3 tabs to do this on: I then removed and taped off the power wires that you see here. Fudge_Brownie
FYI, there is a connector just in front of the battery, behind the headlight. It is light gray, fairly large, and is much easier to disconnect than prying the pump apart. Not really sure why you would want to do this either? Unless you are in CA and very concerned about a SMOG check? Also, while modifying the harness is apparently a way to accomplish your goal, I'd argue that its much safer in terms of avoiding catastrophic hard-to-reverse damage to modify the ECU as described in this thread. TaskMule
Anyone have a nice tidy way to block the hole in the airbox, or am I just throwing my cone/shield in there now?
Fudge_Brownie
You can try to junk-yard an airbox from a model that didn't have SAS. It won't have the elbow.

Fudge_Brownie
Yes, the gray connector, and IIRC, it is bolted or snapped on to the frame somehow, so be careful about that. You just unplug it and you can remove the air pump.

DeleteMyAccount
This mod works! No more CEL. Left everything in place, just disconnected the airpump connector.
