Sas (Air Pump) Delete....write-Up With Pics

I'm just going to toss this one out there...

I've had a re-occuring 455 code despite the fact I can't find any line leaks. And all that time, I've had the 410 code as well. Ever since I did the delete, no 455 (yet?)

Coincidence? Probably. But sure is interesting how many of us have 410 AND 455. Maybe something involved beyond what we know?

Interesting....... The 2 cars I've done the mod to have been fine, so I don't know

I'd love to see a car that set an evap code after doing the mod. I can force an evap test with the VST and can watch as the test is run. I'd be able to see what's going on.

Which delete did youdo though, as the first delete set a 410 after a while. You should t have any 410 code if installed correctly.

I performed the "updated" delete, which *successfully* silenced my 410 code.

I always had a 445 code along with that 410 code, and ever since I deleted the 410 code, the 445 code seems to be gone as well. I just checked yesterday, and not even a pending 445.

Wow, sounds like you REALLY got your money's worth out of the $1.00 mod!!!:D

Seriously, I would say anyone considering doing this, DON'T yank everything related to the air pump until you've driven the car for awhile. Do the mod, disconnect the connector at the air pump, drive the car until you're satisfied that the codes are gone, THEN rip it all out! :) If you don't get the results you want, then just snip out the diode. You've only wasted a buck :D

MY evap code existed before I did this...has nothing to do with the SAS delete. I tried to clarify this..All x70s/850s have evap codes all the time..probably coincidence. In my case its the gas cap, I just haven't gotten a dealer one yet..mine came with a stant "special"

Has anyone come across a source for a plug for the bung on the exhaust manifold or have one to sell? 16x1.5 can't seem to locate on in san antonio

Advance Auto Parts Drain plug section $2.79, also probably good to do a copper sealing washer.

Hello,

I have been reading this thread, I have a bad SAS pump. I see in the instructions that their is only 1 connector and 1 electronic box inside the plastic housing that holds the ECU. Mine has 2 inside that box, so which one would be the ECU that needs modified? I have one in the middle location and a second one in the location closest to the fender.

Also how can I tell if I have the 4.4 ECU. I have a 1998 V70 AWD.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Dave

the reason that there's two in there is because one is an engine computer and the other is the transmission computer. all automatic cars have a 2nd box, just like you do.

for you, since you have a 98 AWD LPT, look for the one with the last digits of "460" and that is your ECU.

Thanks T5power, Can I assume that I also have the ECU version 4.4 or is there a way to verify this as well.

Dave
