Underage Drinking

I thought a private citizen can't own a gun in canadia, period.

depends on what your def of gun is, no assult type weapons! but rifles and hand guns "this depends on several factors not to sure of", also depending on status "officer or in mil" allows for special privilages this also includeds certain knives. Also age to be in military is very low

"quess which one of the above words doesn't belong in that sentence."

What's interesting is how in Canada you can be 19 to drink.. In the US it's 21..(duh) When I was in college we would cross the border and go drinking in Canada.. since it was like 20 min away.... I would say, "mom, but it's legal there".. haha. kinda wierd/stupid situation.. I mean, I could drive 20 min to CA, and drink legally, but I couldn't in the town I lived in.. ;)

depending on where in canada its 19, and 18 in other places, not sure if its lower in other provinces.

I was a responsible drinker when I was underage. I would NEVER drink and drive (and still don't today) or drink to the point of getting sick.

I think that underage drinking is only a problem because the law makes it so desireable. People want what they can't have.

i think i was one of 4 in a graduating class of 300 that didnt ever drink in HS, and i know im the only one in my Co. at school that doenst drink, not against it, just thought itd be fun to save that first drink for my friends and dad when i turn 21

Thats cool, I drank some in highschool, but stopped. Never had another drink until I turned 21.

EXCELLENT POINT... illegality is what makes most teens do everything that they do.. drugs... drinking.. etc..

I disagree

Maybe we do it because it's fun and enjoyable? I mean, as easy as it is to obtain it might as well be legal? If it involved like stealing and stuff, then maaaybe I would see you guy's point, but while what you say does have SOME truth to it with some underage drinkers, I think that's too general of a statement/thought.

Im 17 adn ive only drank and got drunk like 5 times in my whole life. 2 times with my brother at WSU. once on a trip with my neighbor, by the way it was very fun, werent driving anywhere. and then once like a week ago in my driveway cuz we were havigna driveway party at my house and i wasnt going anywhere and my parents were fine with it.

my shcool has prolly the worst drinking problem in the city. kids at my shcool have a "tall can tuesdays" "40 wednesdays" and "keg stand weekends". this means tall cans at lunch adn then go back to school for the rest of the day. on teh weekends its a whole different story. every monday i hear there stories about who got totally shitty, who got alcohol poisoning, who go caught by the cops etc. most the times it ends up being that people get in tehre trucks and do donuts at whitman middle school on teh field.

im not sure y people do it, stpuid if u ask me. i dont really have a desire to dirnk i coudl personally care less.

I'm 20.5 and feel that I have an excellent grasp of alcohol limitations. Occasional wine w/ dinner, beer during football games- and of course getting a little silly some weekends, but the key is I never drink too much, and I never drink if I may have to drive somewhere later. I would whole-heartedly consider myself to be a responsible, under-age, illegal drinker :D

The answer is to raise the driving age to 18, just ask the insurance companys how many lives and money that would save. But, and there is always a but, the parents wouldn't put up with it, cause that means they would have to be the taxi or learn to say no to their children, and saying no to your children today in this world might get you a court date. :o
