Brad850
Taras shipped me some wheels with greyhound. No issues
sconeman
Greyhound. Awesome suggestion! I will check that out.The Pegs are totally refinished now but I'm exploring these again. I'm selling one of these sets so It's got to be one or the other. As for the Enkei there is slightly over 1mm clearance or about .04-.05" between caliper and wheel. Is this acceptable? I've read a lot of different opinions. I've seen recommendations of not running less than .1" and other people say clearance is clearance. I'm wondering what will happen is the calipers get really hot or if something like a small pebble gets stuck between them. Opinions?
Tightmopedman9
If your calipers get hot enough to expand that much, than you'll want them to be rubbing the wheels because they won't be doing much stopping the normal way. Clearance is clearance, and I've seen setups with less without problems.
andyb5
Aaron hit the nail on the head. The worst thing that would happen if a small rock got wedged in there is the caliper paint would get scratched up and the rock would fall out as the spoke travels past.If you wanted, you could add a 5mm spacer to give more clearance. You won't need extended lugs or anything special to run a spacer that small.
sconeman
Well I think I'll just go with it then. I may get some 5mm spacers not sure. We got the brakes bled some more brackets finished and I received Aarons ECU. Very excited to get this running and see what Aaron can do with it! I'll get some more pics of the engine bay once we get everything cleaned up and put back together. Pegs turned out nice. We used a Volvo metallic flake and a 2 part clear. These will be up for sale if anyone if looking. These are OEM not replicas Edited August 1, 2015 by sconeman
tuner4life
The only major issue that you could have with clearance like that is if a wheel bearing goes, it's going to take out a bunch of parts in the process...
Commander Riker
That setup looks really good with the EnkeiAlso: I'm interested to see your impressions. sconeman
back on the ground and running. Put in a new permanent wideband (was using and LM2 before) Got tuner pro installed last night and fired her up with Aarons tune but then discovered the brake lines aren't long enough so once I get that fixed I'll take it for test drive and do some logging. also if you're wondering what a Donk 850 might look like just squint your eyes. sconeman
Looking Good, Kristian! Thanks! I also discovered that the 225/40 18's just aren;t going to work on these wheels without fender rolloing. Literally any bump and they hit the fenders in the front. We'll roll the fenders and then put 10-15mm spacers on the rear to get it sitting right.
Johann
225/35 does better. Also suits the 850 better.
sconeman
225/35 does better. Also suits the 850 better. that's what I had last time and they worked great. This time round the cheapest 225/35s' I could find (locally) were $189 installed whereas the cheapest 225/40's were $119 so I went for cheaper. sconeman
Chasing some little gremlins. I've sent some logs to Aaron but LTFT is - and the MAF is reading low apparenty. we pressure tested everything except for the intake manifold and changed out a few things that came up but didn't find any leaks. We took the intake manifold off yesterday and everything looked OK except there was a hole in the Fuel return line so I replaced that. Then when we got everything put back together the car was running really rough with low vacuum and high afr's. We checked the timing this morning but that was fine and it wound up being a frayed injector wire making an injector not fire. Once I get that connector changed out I'm hoping everything will be spic and span.I got a chance to try out the brakes and they are phenomenal at slowing the car down. Also we got all the fenders rolled. (can do that now if anyone needs that service) And I'm picked up some 20mm spacers for the rear. As soon as the longer bolts come in I'll put those one and get some pics.
