Nerdhotrod
wow, super jealous... but mucho $Looks fimilar...Got to love the "data aquisition" tools taped everywhere, it the only way to do it .Becareful of expensive "chip" tuning packages. They provide little support and lock you in a box that you can not escape from.In most cases you dont have the abilty to tune very important things such as :How much or how little maf/tps plays in fueling. When the 02 sensors move from open loop to closed or visversa. In alot of cases if the packages outlines the maps for you, that are incorrect of miss data....I have been chip tuning for 5 years now, I have seen and tested (but not purchased) many different "systems".I always go back to my "home grown" editors. If you can program in any windows base language (vb,c, c++, c sharp, ect) you can produce a better tool then can be bought commercially.
EOBD
I tend to agree on this point, you can write better applications. I too have seen, borrowed or tested some and they are high priced and to often tie you into a sort of 'lease' contract. The analgy is like buying a car. You pay the money for the car and then they tell you that the engine, wheels and everything else are optional extra's supplied only by them and not included in the original sale. You then have no option but to buy from them at marked up prices. With todays electronics there is no need to use emulators etc. It is practical to have dual port RAM and similar with which you can access the data WHILE the engine is infact running.I would really like to progress this thread forward but it needs more than one to work on it and I do not have the time/inclination to 'do it alone'. 550
Well i think one of the issues is that reading from a bin file gets you no where unless you now where the exact maps are that you can isolte.I mean it is not the easiest thing in the world to say oh yeah this string of F's is different than this string of g's. BlackT5
Just wanted to post this for anyone who cares to look at my stock ECU file. Charles has hosted it for me..http://volvospeed.com/temp/98S70T5manual-canada.binOh, and the only program i've found to read the .bin file is WinOLS. It can be downloaded here: http://www.evc.de/en/download/down_winols.aspOnce the program is installed, open it and then drag and drop the bin file into the program. 550
win OLS is great... I have used it for this and it shows (geographically) the maps. EOBD showed it to me.
