UT_Evo Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Just trying to help a friend out, any help would be nice, like the question says, it doesn't need to be TOO fast, or TOO luxurious, just a nice mix of both (and it has to beat a stock Mazda 6 and a stock '04 Civic, not that those are that hard...)Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thus far she likes the S40 the best, but we haven't had a chance to test drive any but the TSX and Lancer Ralliart.
spottieottie Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I say for a girlie girl the S40, becuase it's more luxurious, fast, and safer than an Evo. IMO I find all of the others somewhat boring but I don't know what she wants, if she likes the S40 I say GO FOR IT!!
laird Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 You need to go Volvo(or you shouldn't be asking here) s40 awd t5. Don't let her get an evo, you said it had to beat a mazda 6... :o
550 Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I say evo 8 (MR) maybe hot car :)s40.5or the srt 4all of those have good handeling and sporty characteristics, the evo I would say tops them all off in performance.
InlineTurbo Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Thats a tough choice. If she isn't concerned about speed it wold probably be a toss up between the new S40 and the Subaru. Both are pretty safe and can get AWD. The Lancer and Neon are out because they aren't luxury at all. You don't even want to mess with a Lancer Evo unless you are serious into speed. The TSX is ok, but a TL, G35, or RSX would be way better. Ever considered the New Hybrid Accord? 255 hp, 37 mpg and 0-60 in unter 7 with a decent amount of luxury thrown in.
Patrick. Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 had to vote s40, drove one right when they hit the showroom and it was a tight car- however, a girl in an EVO would be HOTNESS
AnthonyR Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Basically these cars fall under 2 categoriesBoy racerSubaru Legacy 2.5 GTDodge SRT-4Mitsubishi Lancer RAMitsubishi Lancer Evolution (any model)LuxuryVolvo S40 T5Acura TSXNissan MaximaThat being said the Volvo is your pick. 220hp turbo so plenty of speed, and you have the luxury, safety and features of a Volvo
Mesoam Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 chicks love the Neon though... "its soooo cute, it looks like it's smiling"
Guest Guest Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Ok, thus far I agree with everything, inlcuding putting them in two categories...and especially the fact that a girl driving an Evo would be hotness. The main reason for us cutting out the accord from the mix is cuz her mom has one and she doesn't like much of anything about it. And just in case anyone is wonder the S60 isnt on there cuz it's a little more pricy and more luxurious (we're 18...you get the idea). Right now our top two picks are the Volvo and the Subaru followed by the TSX...the others kind of fall into that "boys toys" category and thus into the "only if the others for some reason get horribly ruled out" category. And as for the comment about beating a Mazda 6...lol, just kidding, pretty sure you weren't serious anyway since I'm pretty sure the Lancer RA and a Regular Neon could probably come close to beating a 6...it's the Mazdaspeed 6 that would be a challenge.
UT_Evo Posted January 2, 2005 Author Report Posted January 2, 2005 Dunno why it's not remembering me, but I think y'all can figure out that the unregistereds are, so far, all me
WhiteT5 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Hey, UT Evo, I'll take Kevin's job and kindly ask you to put your location in your profile . I'm assuming by your username that you have some sort of affiliation with the UT (University of Texas) system. If you're in the DFW area, I know about half of the people at Volvo of Richardson and could get them to get you an awesome deal on an S40. Let me know if you're interested and I'll pull some strings.
UT_Evo Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 lol, never thought about the mix ups that could happen, it's UT for Utah, and I actually go to the UofU, and said friend currently attends BYU but will be coming to the U next year...in case anyone cared, if I was in Texas, I'd totally take you up on that offer
