Pops Racer Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 97 850 R. hoped it was fuel flow, so i changed filter, and pump relay. new battery, ignition seems fine. vac hose to FPR is ok too. i can here pump running, rail is getting fuel, i sprayed some out of the pressure nipple. getting pissed.

How does it die Pops? A short run down to stall like running out of fuel? Or does the electrical just cut out? Does it start back up after a waiting period?
Vagabond Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 I assume your checked all the intake pipe for leaks, and made sure all the clamps are tight? Need more info.

Pops Racer Posted May 2, 2011 Author Report Posted May 2, 2011 replaced relay, and FPR. It seems to die after running for a while and I get no fuel pressure. IC hoses are barndy new, no leaks. AM I missing any thing in the fuel delivery chain? Can the pump be intermittent/weak? Another relay? Ive done everything I can think of except the pump. New coil wire too, even tho all the wires have been done recently. It runs shitty now without actually dying. Starts up fine. Tired of this, I never got to work on my car this weekend...

Pops Racer Posted May 2, 2011 Author Report Posted May 2, 2011 Seemed to start right back up tonight. Runs kinda crappy at idle. Ive changed so many parts it s hard to figure whats wrong now. I cant stand spurious errors, just blow up and get it over with already...
SeedyRom Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Sounds similar to what I've seen with bad MAFs in the past. Did you try unplugging the MAF? I didn't read you say that you've tried that yet.
Jippi 855 GLT Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 i had this happen to me and i did a full stage 0 plus a new fuel pump, FP relay, FI relay, and filter and it did the trick. after the stall check the schrader valve to see if theres any pressure.

Pops Racer Posted May 2, 2011 Author Report Posted May 2, 2011 I went after the MAF today, it seems OK. I was thinking front O2 also. I replaced some more vac lines, and that helped a lot...Stage 0 ftmfw. Its my kids car, so Im not sure how much has been done, but now I'm his mechanic... and not getting any work done on my car. It idles OK, it seem now its choppy at hi boost (19T AND WHITES), we are checking plug gaps. Fuel is flowing properly out of the rail now, I suspect the FPR was NFG. Stay tuned guys, and thanks to all of you for the excellent suggestions. pulled a bunch of evap codes just now...tell me about evap codes?

Not sure wht else could cause fuel pressure issues. Some wise ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD dumping something in your kid's tank. ..don't go crazy with that one. Used RTV on a seal after replacing a sending unit in a fuel tank years ago. Guess what I found in the line a week later
Pops Racer Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 JUst swapped out fuel pump and tried my 3rd fuel pump relay. NO fuel pressure after 30 seconds of drivenig, it died when I shifted into 3rd and mashed it. NO fuel comes out of the rail at all now. Something is keeping the fuel pump from running when its supposed to. WTF.
