Seat Skins

Not sure, but this guy posted on another volvo site and he seemed knowledgeable about the craft, his prototypes looked good, and his prices are bit cheaper. http://elwoodindustries.com/id2.html

actually Elwood is about $100 more than this Saab place at least for the R seats. Plus apparently you can do custom stitching as well. that would be cool to have yellow stitching to match a yellow 850. lol Have you called them yet? to get more info.

On the saab site it says starting at.... who knows how much they'd want for R seats.

If you want a good laugh call a dealer for pricing, just the bottom is over $600 if memory serves.

That's where I plan on taking my business eventually. One day I will use the bookmark for them.

Why wouldn't it? If you have 850R seats and tell a shop to redo them, unless they're slow or not very good at what they do they can make them new again.

Have you actually been to a local shop and asked them what it would take to make the seat or are you just thinking it would be cheaper? I know what it takes to make something like this, the materials involved, the machine required, and time it takes and the price seems reasonable. Top stitching leather is a slow painstaking process and one mistake and you have to throw it away. A leather needle leaves a big hole that can not be covered. Piping takes time to make and sewing all of the overlapping seams that I see in these skins is not easy. A leather needle leaves a big hole that can not be covered.

On another point, all leather is not necessarily the answer. When good quality vinyl is used in the skirts and is cut properly it is more elastic than leather skirts. This allows the vinyl skirts to keep the skins tight over their life.
