850T5M Posted September 28, 2011 Report Share Posted September 28, 2011 I know this is an old-ish thread, but figured some ppl would like to know what a black 850 looks like with tinted tails... This is a pic of my car last year, now has no hitch and a new obnoxious OBX muffler lol Also, I have not yet been stopped by the cops in 2 years...hopefully they never do. I always drive with my driving lights on, therefore the tails always have some red from the driving lights. The reverse is also very easy to see through the black....the black doesn't block any of the white light coming through. I actually find it easier to see because it goes from black to white, or black to red for the brakes... I didn't use VHT to do them, instead I used real car paint. Mixed some black with clear, gave it about 5-7 coats, then a coat or 2 of just clear. Once they;re dry, i water sanded them really lightly (1500-2000) and buffed them. Multiple grits of sanding, wet sanding, clear coating, etc. But then again, the only parts I did was the turn signals and the reverse lights, I think blacking out your actual tail lights is completely stupid and I would never do that. SonaR Posted August 18, 2013 Report Share Posted August 18, 2013 Alright, so I updated my '94 850's tail lights to the newer ones...I think I pulled them off a '95 or '96. I like them a lot better then the ones I had, but now I don't know if I want them tinted or not. I had my old ones tinted and really liked it; it completed the "murdered out" look. Have you been drinking? at that time... a little. With the circumstances at home i figured a little PWI (posting while intoxicated) would be accepted... and I completely spaced on the date. Fireball and Angry Orchard will do that to you. also, it showed up in my new posts, so there. Gregg thinks Mat with one T should ease up just a bit... Gregg would be happy.
