Smithwicks
Bought the T5M back in May after searching since September(2010) in order to replace my aging N/A. Car was located just north of Baltimore so my Dad and I flew out here and drove it back over the course of two days. The trip was uneventful, no cop scares or anything. Stopped for the night in Pittsburgh just because and it gave me and excuse to visit a friend from high school and drink Yuengling...picked up about 4 cases before heading out the next morning. Fast forward a month or two, got a job offer with the company I interned with during college with their San Diego office doing field work. Looks like buying a wagon came in handy. Was able to pack up most of my life into the car besides my Tethys which are being shipped as we speak and my TV which my parents decided to buy to replace the 20 year old TV in the basement. Thought about towing the car behind a u-haul since I think my trans might have a input shaft bearing that's beginning to wear out...but decided to just cram everything in. Company I was hired by was paying for the move so gas money was taken care of. Trip took 3 days, roughly 10 hours each day. First day was: Milwaukee, WI to North Platte, NE...was about as boring as you think it was and then some, only thing that made up for it was 75mph speed limit in NE. Second day was: North Platte, NE to Green River, UT, this stretch was probably the best because of the Rocky Mountains, actually saw my average mpg's go up while going through the mountains. Third day was Green River, UT to San Diego, CA, almost as boring as the first day since it was mostly desert and once you got into SoCal there was traffic, something I had been able to avoid on the trip till then. Overall it was quite and easy drive and the car performed perfectly! Enjoy the pics! Picking up the car in Baltimore. Rolling through Maryland. To bad the car had a stock exhaust. Taking a stroll past an old jobsite. Allegheny River Bridges Worst part of the trip.... V70T5M and the S70N/A together one last time. Was able to sell the S70 the day before I left for CA. :( Loaded up! Boring Illinois. Mississippi River Boring Iowa... Nebraska Sweet! Thank god for functioning A/C!!! Boring Nebraska... Volvo found some fellow wagons to hang out with at the hotel in North Platte. Finally something interesting on the trip. Going up the first big hill into the mountains. Downhill for a while after going through the tunnel on I-70. Very fast...a little to fast towards the end. Scenic overlook area. Volvo shot. Colorado River. Stayed at the Green Terrace along the Green River...if your ever stop for the night I would recommend the place! Great room and free breakfast where they will cook you anything! Corvette club meet in the middle of nowhere The new digs in San Diego. North of the city out in the country. View out the front door. All washed...3 weeks after leaving Wisconsin.
scandalo
It sucks that you had to leave so soon after getting T5. As Craig said we have a bad sedan to wagon ratio here with the MWC. But you gotta get paid... Hope California treats you well and you find some cool Volvo people to share your time with. And buy some damn wheels.Edit: oh and you don't have an input shaft bearing. Might be your throwout? Talk about that later...

Im in/right next to the Elfin Forest if you can find it on a map. 15 minutes from the beach and probably 10 minutes to Escondido. Great to see the trip Tom! lookforjoe
Congrats on the new job! Nice looking wagon, and great pics from the drive. My wife & I drove our Mustang GT convertible back from Las Vegas to NY last summer, and Kansas was the deadly boring state for us.
