Account_Deleted_T5M
I have an issue on a 95 850 T5. TPS wire was stripped so i taped it up. I removed IAC, upper intercooler hose, put everything back together now car will crank for 20 seconds or so and struggle to life, and sounds like its misfiring or has a huuge vacuum leak, then dies. Cooling fan is now coming on when ignition is in on position, but car is cold. I have BOTH FUEL AND SPARK
tca217
Any codes popping up? How was it running before you did the work on it? I would backtrack what you did and check to make sure everything is in the correct place. Sounds like you have a wire something shorting out. .....................TIM
Fudge_Brownie
Bad ECT. ECT is signaling the car as overheated, hence the fan, and hence the no-start. If the car believes the engine is warm, it will also start the car using the warm map and in closed loop, but things like the O2 sensor will still be cold. You can ohm out the ECT to verify that it's providing the wrong signal (guides like Haynes/Chiltons provide value chart), but I know you have cars at your disposal, so I'd think just swapping another one in is easier. jablackburn
^^^What he said. My car did the exact same thing when it went bad. Double-check the ECT plug first for corrosion.
FCP Euro
+2 Here is the ECT you need. http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-engine-coolant-fan-temperature-switch-960-850-s70-c70-v70-s90-v90-9186486 Might as well replace the thermostat while you are at it. http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-engine-coolant-thermostat-87-degrees
