Farewell Guys. It Was Fun!

I've been out of the VS loop for a while now. I had stopped modding my car and since I didn't have any problems from it, never really came here. That and my work load at the office really jumped up when my coworker took a different position and left all the work to me.

Anyways, I just bid farewell to my 98. and our 99 will be up for sale soon too.

I'd like to thank all of you that helped get me educated on these cars. All the user written articles really made working on the car doing maintenance, stage 0 and other more complicated stuff like axle replacement and what not easy to understand and saved me a lot of $$. Same goes for guys like BlackT5 that helped get me through that totally not fun at all FMIC piping fabrication and install.

I'll be popping in one or two days at the Turbobricks South East weekend coming up mid October. Kinda convenient for me since it's here in town so if any of you guys are going, I'll see you there.

Lastly, the replacements...The 98 was replaced with this. 2012 GT, premium pack, brembo option, 3.73 gears, saddle interior, reverse camera, etc.

Thing's a beast and extremely well built and put together. Everything on the interior is a notch above the Camaro/Challenger I drove as well as the Evo X and STI that I also drove before ultimately deciding on this. The handling is great (though better now that I've got adjustable koni's and better springs), 412 hp which is plenty for daily driving and the candy metallic red paint looks incredible in the sun. The metal flake gives it a lot of depth that really makes it pop. Best of all, the dealership I bought it from has a warranty forever program. Basically once the factory powertrain warranty runs out, their warranty forever kicks in and basically covers any normal wear and tear failure in the drivetrain for as long as I own the car. no if's and's or but's. I've talked to a few people who have fleet cars they bought from them and have gotten transmissions worked on, engine parts replaced, etc at no charge on their cars that have well over 150/200K miles on them. so that was also a big selling point for me as the car is more or less going to (hopefully) be worry free in terms of paying to get stuff fixed on down the road.

As for the wife, she's got her a new A4. Not particularly quick (211HP/260 lb-ft of torque) but it's a really smooth ride, the DSG "shiftless" transmission is really cool, it looks sharp and she likes it so I guess that's all that matters. Got it certified preowned and they threw in an extended 70K mile powertrain warranty so hopefully it too will be more or less worry free.

Wow beauty rides dude...good luck with everything in the future.

I'm thinking that if that SWED PWR plate is yours...you should probably just send it to me and I'll let your legacy live on in Carlisle next year...lol

yeah the GT can get out of control in a hurry. It'll chirp the tires on a hard 3~4 shift if the traction control is set to a lower level or turned off. It's a lot faster than it actually feels like it is. The power delivery is very linear and smooth.. very different from any turbo car or like the C5 Z06 I also tested when I was shopping around. That Z06's power delivery is very sudden and violent. It FEELS fast (which it is) but the 5.0L is very deceiving. It's just as fast as the Z06 but is so smooth and linear, it doesn't feel as fast as it's actually going. You don't really notice the acceleration unless you're watching the needle hauling ass across the speedometer.

I've read that the aftermarket tunes adjust the throttle sensitivity and variable valve timing though and the cars feel a lot faster and gain anywhere from 25~35 hp just from a tune/intake. Not sure if I'm going to mess with any of that right now though. It's plenty of power for daily driving and I got no plans to take it to the track other than maybe mid october for the SE 10.0 meet just to see what it'll do and see what baseline dyno numbers it puts down.

Anyways, yeah if any volvo owners in alabama want the SWEDPWR tag, they're welcome to it at this point I guess. My wife said she never liked it though.. said it reminded her of white power (which down here can get you into a whole mess of trouble! )

No telling if I'll ever be back behind the wheel of a volvo in the future. I know never say never and once we have kids they'll need something cheap/safe to drive.. by then though, these cars will be even fewer and farther between.

?? free I guess. I didn't renew registration so I assume it's available now

I'd be interested in it for a show plate for sure if you wanna send it to me in Michigan.

Nice Mustang! It does seem that the 2012 is making more power than the previous year, even though it's not advertised. One put down 397 STD 386 SAE 359 Uncorrected (1300ft alt and 100 degrees), completely stock. Also found Ford crimped down the H-pipe to 2.5"....that's not the case on 2011's.
