Thanks! Fuse checked, still same 2 codes: CEM-E000, TCM E-000, checked connections to DEM unit (seemed snug), did a battery hard reset to break the battery supply (pos and neg together for 1 minute), bu that didn't seem to do anything. CEM E-000 symptoms relate to all the weirdness (no tach, no speedo, jerky tranny, etc). The codes are still there, and won't erase.

I did read that "...the control module (CEM) will remain shut off until the 'power supply is broken (15,30,X). "

Anyone know how to do this, perhaps a last ditch effort before heading to the dealer?

Unless I'm reading your post wrong, I don't think you did a hard reset. A hard reset involves leaving the positive terminal attached to the battery and removing the negative cable and touching it to the positive terminal. Try that, update under the "network" tab and report back with results.

Just re-read you previous posts. I would recommend that you make sure you have a good DEM connection since the connectors were broken upon removal. Specifically, I would secure them by hand, hard reset the car and have someone update the network status while you maintained positive connection at the DEM.

What fault codes were present before you began this adventure?

DEM rebuild seems to be the "root" of all the headaches here. Not sure how to proceed.

Scanned, software modules updated at dealer. Could not clear CEM-E000, TCM E-000 errors and "limp mode."

When DEM unplugged, codes can be cleared (although there was a TCM-1A61), and anti-skid warning (because the DEM is unplugged).

Note - I tried to do the hard reset before all this with the DEM plugged in (according to the instructions here, and via Xemodex, nothing changed). Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Long overdue. So, the Xemodex rebuild was FAULTY. It caused the system to not want to respond. When it was unplugged, no weird limp mode, when plugged in, chaos. They kept saying it was fine when it left. I was about to order a new one (and sell a kidney to pay for it) when the Xemodex rep called me and asked for it back "to have a peek." While I don't have pictures or evidence to support their claim, there was some damage they didn't see the first time. They gave me 50% off (very nice) and the DEM worked when it was returned. That's the good news.

The bad? Still no AWD. My awesome mechanic thought it was the spline sleeve and sure enough. I ordered the VIVA rebuild kit and voila, fixed. Moral of the story? Not sure yet.

To make things even more interesting, my other Volvo (2006 V70) has had anti-skid warnings for a few months. Annoying. Anyways, we threw it on the hoist and voila, NO AWD. Now I am dealing with a second car, similar issue. Seriously, am I that unlucky or should I be selling the fleet? These codes are a DEM-0006 and a BCM-0095.

So now I am highjacking this post. I have a "new to me" 2007 S60R with 41,xxx miles on it. Sure enough, it only has front wheel drive. The angle gear area is dry. When up on jack stands, I can see that the driveshaft does turn when the car is in gear. When on jackstands only the front wheels turn but when I accelerate, the rear wheels will engage. I checked the rear differential pump pressure via VIDA/DICE. It reads .08 at idel and drops to .07 while accelerating. The current varies between 1300 and 1600 mA. A friend suggested I should check the rear differtial pump by listening to it with an automotice stethescope. I did this and compared the sound to of the R pump Vs the sound of the pump on my daughter's 2007 S60 2.5T. To me they sound the same. I had anticipated that the R's pump would have been silent or sounded "stuck". The only codes I've seen are a ECM-5110 malfuntion indicator lamp and a central electronic module faulty signal and a CEM-1F00 ECM, software faulty signal. Not sure that any of those apply to my issue.

Any input would be really appreciated.

Hi Guys, Have 2007 Volvo XC90 6cyl. This DEM AOC thing has me fit to be tied. getting service anti skid and have no AWD operation. Took this car to the Volvo Dealer twice for diagnostics. First time told me it was clockspring steering angle sensor. $611 NO FIX Took it back and they diagnosed bad REM unit. $1200. Told them to fix the thing. They called after replacing the REM and said no fix. Removed the new REM and put old one back for wrong diag. Told me the DEM was bad and charged me another $200 for their trouble. I removed the DEM and sent to Xemodex for repair. Nice quick turnaround and almost $500 for the job. Before installing DEM I tested the pump by putting 12v to it. Sounds like its running fine, not that I really know what it is supposed to sound like. Makes nice constant buzzing sound so assuming it is working. Plugged in the DEM and replaced the blown 7.5 fuse. Started her up and..........Service Anti Skid messge back on. New fuse blown again. Replaced fuse again, blown again. So far I have $1,300 spent for a complete no fix. The dealer doesn't seem to be able to do anything and I've thrown them a lot of money for nothing. I'm still suspecting a bad AOC pump that keeps blowing the fuse but seems to work. Could a dirty AOC filter be causing the pump to work too hard? Any ideas? Help really appreciated guys. Craig

Need codes. But yes the aoc pumps go bad. Clock spring wouldnt be related to inop all wheel drive but cause anti skid message hopefully they updated the sas software first. You could also have a bad dem from xemodex causin issue. Location?
