At Least Nothing Broke!

Its though to launch the car at the track with the quick spool of the K24. I had the same issue. I did long burn outs to get the tires to be as sticky as possible. I never got to finish the second run, and blew the diff and a hole in my transmission.

If you put hoosiers on the car with a stock diff you will almost certainly ruin it, esp when you are going to dump the clutch to launch.

Yeah, I think I'll hold off on the slicks. This is a DD and will hardly ever go to the track. I was just curious, and it turned out to be very frustrating. I'll probably get a LSD though. Since the car gets pretty squirrely on the street it may be a good investment. Then maybe I'll look through my stacks of used tires for a set of 225/50's and give it another shot at the track.

I think it's time to go to a bigger turbo so you can atleast pray for some traction. ;-)

no hate here lol... just asking...

isnt that very slow for all that you have done? this is the car in your sig right? built rn k24 etc...

even if you dont get traction (i know thats the main problem here) shouldnt your trap be higher than 104? how much boost?

Trapping 104 was really one of the only things I was happy with. I didn't read all 16 pages of the pinned "1/4 Mile Times" thread, but looking at the list on page 1 made me feel OK about my trap speed.

Obviously I was disappointed with my first trip to the track, but I really think if I can get a LITTLE traction I could get a respectable run. Remember too...we're only talking about a K24. Most put that turbo in a class with the 18/19T. I love it though, especially for a DD :)

My best trap to date out of my 3 or 4 trips was 103mph with an auto and a 16T.

I really want to go again since I now have a couple more little things done to see if they made any improvements.

There should be more in your setup, time to start playing with the tune.

Believe me, that's been a never ending process :D AFR's were about 11 when I was logging data at the track. Definitely need to work on that.

Not sure if this was a mistake, but since I have the rev limiter raised to 7600rpm, I finished in 3rd gear (7200rpm). My thinking was, one less shift may shave a split second from my times. Since the power drops of after about 6100rpm's anyway, I'm wondering if shifting to 4th towards the end of the track may have actually been a better idea

The OP is running a smaller turbo than you are, which causes his power to fall off at ~6100 rpm, whereas your setup likely keeps pulling to 7600.

With a bad launch maybe, but it sounds more like he was burning half the track  Check the 660ft. It's a rule of thumb that a bad launch isn't going to hurt trap speed heavily, but that's because of the short distance of the track. Make it a mile track, or a much faster car and that's going to change. You spin your tires half way down, you don't magically build speed :P

Were you at 75-80 on the September 30th? Saw a pretty sweet silver S70 much like yours there, but couldn't find the driver to talk to.

That was me. It got really crowded, waited about an hour between runs. I was probably grabbing a hotdog :)

OP, what were you up against, something AWD?

I think on that run I was up against a modified early Camaro or Nova. It was a test and tune, so there was a little bit of everything there that night. I had a couple of runs against a Nissan 200SX SR20DET that ran pretty good. Other than a LSD the kid hadn't done much to the car, but it was running 13.1-13.2 seconds all night. He smoked me off the line, since I couldn't get any traction, but I felt like I may have closed on him a little towards the end. May have just been wishful thinking though :D
